Celebrating their one year anniversary, DJ Ryan’s La Cura de la Semana welcomes Kamilo Sanclemente to the label for his debut EP. Long regarded as one of electronic music’s most beloved artists, the Colombian producer has taken his progressive minded sound to Anjunadeep, Beatfreak, Clubsonica Records, Replug and The Soundgarden, while earning continued support from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. In a year that has seen Kamilo operate at his most prolific and consistent, he now brings his sought after beats and melodies to La Cura de la Semana to commemorate the label’s one year anniversary.

Spread across two tracks it is the smooth hypnotic qualities of ‘Colonies’ which get the EP underway. Masterful at creating infectious dance floor minded grooves, Kamilo crafts a strong foundation here as mountainous bass tones provide the backbone for electric rhythms, choir-like overlays and hazy harmonic refrains to create a colourful journey into the main break. Short but impactful, sprialling vocal gates and evolving tones marry across the interlude, conjuring up bucolic visions, before perfectly seguing into a tastefully melodic finale.

Equally impressive is the title selection ‘Hang On’ which finds Kamilo creating oriental style motifs over warm, progressive grooves. Timeless in execution and transcendent in delivery, it’s this hazy atmospheric resonance which perfectly preludes an exceptional vocal narrative. Hopeful and emotive, these impassioned phrases shift the narrative across the second act, opening up pleasure centres as the eastern motifs return for an elegant conclusion. It rounds out two immaculately produced progressive cuts from Kamilo, an artist who has his risen to the top of the progressive music spectrum and continues to operate at a creative peak. Meanwhile, La Cura de la Semana rings in it’s one year anniversary in memorable fashion, and in turn continues to find a nice roster balance between rising talent and sought after veterans. Highly recommended.

Charging into 2018 like there’s no tomorrow, We Are The Brave continues to churn out top notch releases month after month. The label started out in 2017 with the runaway success of Alan’s “We Do What We Want” and continued to set the standards with dancefloor bangers from Gary Beck, Boxia, Darius Syrossian, Skober and Reset Robot. A noteworthy debut collab between Sasha and Alan closed out 2017, and a remix for the late Trevino. Not a lot to live up to then for 2018 I hear you say?

New year, new artists and lots of new music! Next up is German artist Kevin De Vries, making his grand debut on the label this April with ‘Aurora’. I am especially excited to see this release on the label. I have been into a lot of Kevin's music over the last year or so and we have been speaking about a release for some time” says Alan.

Lead track ‘Aurora’ comes with a rolling bass, yet subtle and effective rhythmic tones. Its filled with luscious textures and a powerful hi hat which punctuates through the drive. “I made Aurora and Nemesis nearly a year ago and tested them a lot at gigs I played. The feedback I got was amazing” adds Kevin.

“I always loved to listen to old 90's Trance which inspired me a lot. I love the catchy melodies and also the energy they give to you while listening” continues Kevin. ‘Nemesis’ is the groovier of the two, a low-end flare, cyber synths in the background and an uplifting hook.

Kevin explained he wanted to make something which felt timeless and could have easily been produced as much in 1997 as it could have 2027. “I really respect how hard he has worked at crafting these tracks for us, and the results speak for themselves. Both tracks have been absolute weapons for me and I am sure everyone will feel the same.” Alan

Kevin De Vries delivers big room drama on his ‘Aratak’ EP for Afterlife Recordings. 

Spirited synth lines, drum rolls, gripping moments of silence and weighty kick drums make the title track of De Vries’ Afterlife debut formidable club gear. ‘Sciamachy’ is more subtle, centred around a euphoric arpeggio which spirals to its apex. Konstantin Sibold contributes a fine remix, toning down certain elements of ‘Sciamachy’ to let others shine. It completes an EP that brims with energy and dancefloor dynamism, a hugely exciting first full record for De Vries on Afterlife.
