VIVES, the French word for « weevers », is a record label based in Rennes (FR) focusing on electronic music (Techno, Industrial, Ambient, Experimental, Electro, EBM).

Vives or weevers are a family of sea sh that bury themselves in the sand. They have venomous spines that sting people that walks on them. Their stings often cause severe pain that spreads to the bones. For these artworks, the label decided to collaborate with the artist Alexandre Viaud who paints on photos. 

He takes his inspiration from the work of Arnulf Rainer and Jackson Pollock for his way of painting : an instant painting, made of strokes, deposits, to give complete freedom to his painting. Each
piece of music is meant to reect the artwork. 

VIVES label’s first release on Tuesday, June 30th in digital format and tape. In this compilation, the artists Clarence Park, Kronom, Weever and Distant deliver four tracks with a special character, both dark and bright.

This type of music is to be found in every other release of the label which is resolutely open to every genre
of electronic music.

France based producer Mathis Kolkoz (Founder of Cold-Wave band Blind Delon) and singer Paul Brousse (member of Hardcore and Metal bands, Influence Néfaste, Liquid Flesh & Epitaphe) present to you their new project Pudeur on Area Z. “Pudeur”, meaning “delicacy” in French , also synonym for “gentleness” is a perfect incarnation of what this project is not about. The duo draws its influences from Punk-EBM and Black Metal and deliver to the audience a genre which Mathis likes to describe as Black Body Music.

The EP kicks off with its first track “My Mortal Cold” which is very representative of the spirit behind their output. The speed varying from 160 to 175 beats per minute throughout the EP creates a fresh rendering of EBM in a raw, staggering and tenacious manner.

Along with this ep will be a compilation of 4 remixes, which will be rather more dancefloor oriented, by members of the collective and other artists such as: Imperial Black Unit, The Undertakers Tapes in collaboration with Incendie, Chrome Corpse who previously released on Area Z and finally Mind/Matter.

The only way how to describe this guy's output is by stating the obvious: it's diverse. As part of (in)famous band Piča z Hoven, he was the one behind the production. Now, going by the name of TRAUMA, you can see him shaking bass bins under a flag of the WRONG collective, either behind decks or just pushing his productions by performing them live. You might also get a chance to hear him laying down ambient set as well... 
But not now, not here. Hands down, this is the hardest & darkest podcast yet, and we are proud to have it here. 
According to him "it's a nice farewell to my current live set, in this particular shape. I've played it like this for quite some time both solo and as AV set NIHIL together with oxoo. And now I can close this chapter and do something new....".

The prima materia is believed from a philosphical stand point to be the material that began all things. Such as begining The Silvery Waters sister label. Co-founder Heavenly Bodies crafts an expressive ambient album with techno hints, droning pads, noise and tape looped samples into an enriching interlude for the future. ____ In alchemy and philosophy, prima materia, materia prima or first matter (for a philosophical exposition refer to: Prime Matter), is the ubiquitous starting material required for the alchemical magnum opus and the creation of the philosopher's stone. 

It is the primitive formless base of all matter similar to chaos, the quintessence or aether. Esoteric alchemists describe the prima materia using simile, and compare it to concepts like the anima mundi.

Premiere: La serie recopilatoria “Uncanny Valleys” está relacionada con la teoría introducida por el robotista japonés Mori Masahiro en 1970, refiriéndose a la percepción paradójica de las similitudes existentes entre robots y seres humanos.

Esta segunda obra se centra en la música "industrial" a través de una variedad de géneros e interpretaciones de la estética de los mismos. Abriéndose con una selección de cuatro infundidas en la pista, cortada con una porción de power ambient, la compilación evoluciona hacia una forma más cruda, con noise industrial que abarca intenciones nihilistas o románticas.

Echar un vistazo a la música que está influenciada por un género, creada en los tiempos en que se creó el concepto, nos ayuda a comprender los vínculos entre la teoría y la música, ambos inspirados por el desarrollo de las tecnologías y sus influencias tanto en los aspectos personales como sociales.

Premiere:  “Uncanny Valleys” compilation series is related to the theory introduced by japanese robotitian Mori Masahiro back in 1970, referring to the paradoxical perception of the existing similarities between robots and human beings.

This second opus focuses on ‘Industrial’ music through a variety of genres and interpretations of the genres aesthetics. Opening with an infused four to the floor selection cut with a slice of power ambient, the compilation evolves into a rawer shape, with industrial, noise that embraces either nihilistic or romantic intentions.

Taking a look at music that is influenced by a genre, created in the times where the concept was created, helps us to grasp the links between the theory and music, both inspired by the development of technologies and its influences on both personal and societal aspects.

Knife presenta Terror Cognitive Dissonance, la identidad bajo la que se oculta Jesús Martos desarrollando como concepto artístico-experimental aquel miedo intrínseco del ser humano a lo desconocido. Su trabajo de indagación y producción en cuanto a sonidos que van desde el ritualismo pagano del dark ambient de culto hasta los ritmos sucios y extremos de un noise de características propias le han ido llevando a ir descubriendo y difuminando las fronteras entre los géneros más oscuros de la electrónica. El acto en vivo de Terror Cognitive Dissonance ha sido descrito como perturbador y confrontativo, cruzando la frontera entre el artista y la audiencia a través de la performance improvisada y el uso de hardware acompañado de voces desgarradoras. Perteneciente al colectivo Oddsratio; plataforma dedicada a la búsqueda de nuevos sonidos desde un prisma experimental y a través de todas las técnicas de creación alternativas y/o analógicas, Terror Cognitive Disonance realza su figura como productor llegando a lanzar tres álbumes de estudio desde 2017 hasta la fecha.

En esta grabación, Terror Cognitive Dissonance combina la técnica del djing con la del live act, logrando un conjunto híbrido de mezcla e improvisación. Esto surge cuando 2 o 3 pistas están siendo mezcladas, y por otro lado de manera simultánea, se están aplicando estructuras sonoras, ritmos o incluso voces mediante sintes, pedales y cajas de ritmo. Así mismo, esta grabación está confeccionada con varias piezas de culto de la música industrial europea, y en particular, varios cassettes del noise italiano de los 80 y 90 combinados con lanzamientos más actuales del mismo estilo experimental, así como algunos tracks inéditos del autor, transcurriendo por géneros como el power electronics, el death industrial o el drone metal.

Knife presents Terror Cognitive Dissonance, the identity under which Jesús Martos hides, developing as an artistic-experimental concept that intrinsic fear of the human being of the unknown. His work of investigation and production in terms of sounds that range from the pagan ritualism of cult dark ambient to the dirty and extreme rhythms of a noise with its own characteristics have led him to discover and blur the borders between the darkest genres of The electronic. Terror Cognitive Dissonance's live act has been described as disturbing and confrontational, crossing the border between artist and audience through improvised performance and the use of hardware accompanied by heartbreaking vocals. Belonging to the Oddsratio collective; a platform dedicated to the search for new sounds from an experimental prism and through all alternative and/or analog creation techniques, Terror Cognitive Disonance enhances its figure as a producer, releasing three studio albums from 2017 to now.

In this recording, Terror Cognitive Dissonance combines the technique of djing with that of live act, achieving a hybrid ensemble of mixing and improvisation. This arises when 2 or 3 tracks are being mixed, and on the other hand simultaneously, sound structures, rhythms or even voices are being applied through synths, pedals and drum machines. Likewise, this recording is made with several cult pieces of European industrial music, and in particular, several cassettes of Italian noise from the 80s and 90s combined with more current releases of the same experimental style, as well as some unreleased tracks by the author, passing through genres such as power electronics, death industrial or drone metal.
