In his formative years, the artist responsible for 30drop discovered new synthetic and electronic sounds that would later influence his work. From the year 1996, his activity as a DJ powered his link with music, focused on Detroit Techno and Techno sounds that held the transgressive references of Birmingham, UK. These impressions saw 30drop magnetise toward an industrial, experimental, noise-based sound, particularly in the mid-2000s.

After a creative pause, 2014 brought his new project, ‘30drop’, at this time his label 30D Records of which he is the Manager and joint  A&R with Angel Molina, was also born.

30drop은 2015년 Detroit Underground 레이블에서 첫 정규앨범 ‘Tools For The Dimensional Step(2015)’를 발표한 이후, 제프 밀스(Jeff Mills)가 운영하는 전설적인 Axis Records에서 ‘Soroban(2020)’과 Photosynthetic Zone Manifesto(2021)’, 30D 레코즈를 통해 ‘The Time Of Cruel Miracles(2017)’, ‘Insight Into Mind And Space(2023)’를 발매하는 등, 현재까지 총 5장의 정규 앨범과 수많은 EP 앨범들을 발표했다.

80th vurt podcast features a one-hour DJ set from 30drop, a legendary techno producer/live performer/DJ based in Girona, Spain since the 2000s..

Electronic music composer, Live performer and 30D label owner 30drop was born and raised in Barcelona where he first fell in love with post-punk, goth and electronic music during the city’s post-Olympia heyday. At the time, Spain was bursting at the seems with new artistic and cultural energy culturally in the wake of the ‘La Onda Layetana’ cultural movement in Barcelona in the late 70s and the ‘La Movida’ movement in Madrid in the 80s. 
30drop spent the mid-90s between legendary clubs Nitsa, KGB, Moog or Syndicate (in neighboring Terrassa) and various local skate parks, where tapes of the previous nights' sets by local heroes such as Sideral or Angel Molina were played and traded. Delving deeper into techno, experimental and industrial electronics in the 2000s, he adopted the 30drop moniker in reference to the drop-frame time code used for synching 1950s US black and white TV images to sound. He eventually began making music inspired by Russian, British and American retro- futuristic science fiction of the 40s and 50s, as well as classic Detroit and Birmingham techno. 
Since 2014 he has become a staple of the European electronic music scene, playing venues such as Berghain, Tresor, Moog Club, etc. The same year he also established his own 30D records imprint as a platform for both functional and more experimental strains of dance music. 
As a producer, 30drop combines elements of industrial, bleep techno and electro with polyrhythmic melodies and evocative soundscapes, creating create music that is both functional and listenable outside of the club context. He was released five full length albums, including Soroban (2020) and Photosynthetic Zone Manifesto (2021) on Jeff Mills’ legendary Axis Records, as well as Tools For The Dimensional Step (2015) on the Detroit Underground imprint, The Time Of Cruel Miracles (2017) and Insight Into Mind And Space (2023) on his own 30D Records, where he also collaborated with Gerald Donald (as Arpanet) for the split EP Phases (2018).

Ryogo Yamamori is one of best techno DJ and producer in Japan.
Tokyo based Ryogo Yamamori has become one of the defining acts in the Japanese techno scene. His skill as a DJ derives from the early 90's Detroit & Chicago techno scene as growing up and taking influences from. 
For the last two decades of his production career, he was acclaimed not only by his DJ skill but also as a producer and curator of his own label, 951beat. He has established a platform of his sounds on 951beat and it has grown to feature some of his closest affiliates including Kan Shinomura, ID-22, Katrina, QriTomato, Drumcell. Ryogo Yamamori has been involved in techno since the late 90's and became resident at Air, Module and Yellow. He has released tracks from respected labels, notably Josh Wink's label Ovum, "Trinity e.p ”, got charted in 58th on Beatport's Techno which made worldwide selling. also,"Journey" was released from 951beat and 40th with Resident Advisor,After having collaborated in Detroit Movement's official compilation, he has received offers from Flash Recordings. With over 20 years of experience, Ryogo Yamamori has played in NZ, Canada, US, Asia's clubs and festivals, including places like Octagon, ageHa, Womb. Ryogo's DJ style is known to be technical by mixing 3 decks and gets acclaim by world class artists.

Prg/M (Program) is one of the moniker of Pier Giuseppe Mariconda, musician and multimedia artist from the Southern Italy, already known as Subion and part of the project r²π with Retina.it and Ruhig.   Under the aka Subion he released the 12" "Eliogabalo" and other tracks on compilation or as remixes on Blackwater Label. PRG/M is his darker and mental soul which express in dark ambient sounds, immersive pads and subdued and deconstructed rhythmics. The sound he produces under this moniker has been released in last years on various EP and compilations on labels such as Concrete Records (Rome - IT) and Blackwater Label (London - UK). In January 2017 he released his new EP "Assioma Geometrico" on Spagiria, a new Eklero sublabel, with reworks of Ruhig, Hydrangea and kalos and in June he release, as 1/3 of r²π project, on Midgar records ͞The Library of Babel͟ a four tracks 12''

Alderaan is the artistic name of Franco De Michele, DJ and producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the year 2011, he began his study and experimentation of sound and started to publish his own music a few years later in the dutch label Planet Rhythm (2014). This gave him the support from artists from all over the world, and resulted in him releasing music in physical format for the first time in the London based label Weekend Circuit. His discography extends through labels like Mindtrip Music, Warm Up Recordings, Insula Records, Dead Rose Records, Animal Farm and Pole Group. This has opened him the doors for being an active part of the argentinean scene, playing in clubs like Cocoliche, Under Club or Bahrein, and being a resident of the party/agency Deviant. In the year 2017 he embarked on his first European tour where he played at big clubs like Arena Club (Berlin), Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Moog (Barcelona) o 1988 Live Club (Rennes) among others.

You've most likely noticed that Jablonski has been making some powerful waves on both the Polish and international techno scenes of late; waves formed of relentless energy, personality, punch and fearlessness - a pretty effective combo if you ask us! As an artist who has until recently focused on live performances mostly formed of entirely original productions, we’re super excited to hear how he jells together a hybrid set, ensuring the Jablonski flair the techno world is coming to love so much is woven throughout, ready to engulf room two revellers and take them on a mighty ride.​ Word on the street is that he has something pretty special in store for us!

What Michal conveys in his sets is also communicated through a library of serious, no messing about productions which we definitely recommend exploring, often with an industrial twist and heftier, mean underlying backbone which we've definitely found ourselves hooked on (released on the likes of New Rhythmic Records, Circular Limited and Sonntag Morgan, amongst others).

As if being inspired by Michal’s musical prowess wasn’t enough, getting to know artists like him is another one of the beautiful perks of what we do and so it gives us huge pleasure to be welcoming him and sharing this podcast and interview with you. This personal, heartfelt insight into Jablonski's world and the music he loves so much is the perfect stimulation for the body and mind and his recorded DJ set will no doubt leave you gagging for the weekend and what's in store for us.

If you want to trace the beginnings of DJ Pete's status in Techno culture, you have to go back a very long way. He emerged as a DJ in the pioneering days of the Berlin scene during the late 80s and joined Hard Wax in 1991, which now makes him the longest serving staff member of the legendary record store.
As a producer he made his name with the first release on Chain Reaction in 1995, a sub-label of the Basic Channel imprint, together with René Löwe aka Vainqueur as Scion. Scion also released the first commercially available CD ever produced with the then newly developed software Ableton Live in 2002 and later continued their collaboration as Substance & Vainqueur on the label Scion Versions. Substance, the acclaimed alias DJ Pete uses for his own productions has a back catalogue of highly influential solo efforts and an impressive string of acclaimed remixes for pivotal Techno artists like Juan Atkins, Regis, Kessell, Orphx, Robert Hood, Rhythm & Sound, Monolake or Shed, among many others.
DJ Pete earned similar respect behind the decks, combining highly individual yet refined mixing skills with both his vast encyclopedic knowledge of Techno history and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds that carry the potential to push all boundaries. Beyond that his energetic sets also incorporate elements of pure Techno, the Hard Wax tradition and powerful House tracks. His seemingly unlimited scope is informed by frequent Dynamic Tension nights at Tresor in the late 90s with Surgeon and his residency at Berghain since its opening, as well as countless successful gigs at the most crucial nights of the scene's international circuit. He is also known to merge Techno with Dubstep and selecting Reggae, particularly while working the mighty Killasan sound system as core DJ member of the seminal Wax Treatment events.
DJ Pete's lauded signature style also benefits from his numerous experiences as part of the cherished live acts TR-101 (an improvisational live act in collaboration with Sleeparchive), Scion (either with or without vocalist Paul St. Hilaire), and gigs with many other likeminded DJ innovators. A typical DJ Pete performance is always delivering an array of programming, sequencing, layering and live effects that goes well beyond a mere presentation of tracks. True to Techno's original claim, innovations in sound and technology are intuitively employed to achieve a floor sensation that manages to involve the crowd on as many levels as possible.

Keepsakes, the moniker of British-Kiwi producer and DJ James Barrett, has been going from strength to strength in the murky world of techno in the past few years. With EPs pressed to wax on Ansome and Ossian’s South London Analogue Material and Germany’s Mindcut, appearances on the last two instalments of Mord’s Herdersmat compilations, plus European tours in 2016 and 2017, Keepsakes has been working hard to push his crunchy sound and diverse DJ sets internationally.

Furthermore, Barrett co-founded the Haven club night alongside Jaded Nineties Raver in 2015 in Auckland, New Zealand - aiming to introduce a new generation of Kiwis to the weirder and harder side of house and techno. At the beginning of 2018 this also expanded into a vinyl-focused record label, launching with an EP of screechy bangers from the Haven co-founder and also featuring appearances from Ansome, Ayarcana, and Tommy Holohan in its first year.

Now residing in Berlin, Keepsakes is now focused full time on bringing a tough and eclectic vibe to dance floors worldwide - utilising his productions, DJ sets, and label to push a techno focused sound with flickers of house, electro, bass music and breaks while still maintaining a distinct crunchy character.

Danza Tribale boss Adiel is the latest to step up to the plate for Bleep’s mix series. Rather than going all-out from the off, the Rome-based DJ shows masterful restraint in the opening stages here. It’s not until a quarter of the way in that we get the first beat-driven track - Pinch and Peverelist’s Punch Drunk classic ‘Revival’, no less. Prior to this point, Adiel has focussed on weightless tracks with an air of potent, surreal psychedelia about them, interspersing these with evocative cuts from the likes of Carnatic musician Bombay S Jayashri in order to set the scene even better. Following ‘Revival’ the mix’s midsection continues to lean on classic dubstep sounds - Mala and Shackleton feature - before rounding out with some expertly-blended leftfield techno. Strap in for this one, it’s a real trip.

"This podcast is an emotional improvisation, for Bleep and for all the listeners of this particular moment we are all living. A selection of music for the most quiet hours, for the dreamy ones and for the hardest ones, where to understand records in terms of their effect on the mind, you need to hear music in terms of its energy and feeling. 1) T'es qui meuf ?

Je m’appelle Jen, je suis marocaine et j’habite à Lyon depuis 6 ans. Je joue sous le nom de VEL, souvent aux soirées MX & Papa Maman !

2) Des projets en cours ? (EP, label…)

J’ai commencé par la production avant de m’intéresser au DJing. Mes premières tracks sortiront bientôt sur le label Dement3d XXX de François X. En parallèle je produis avec mon ami et gourou In Aeternam Vale qui m’a poussée, donné confiance en moi, et m’aide techniquement depuis bientôt un an ! En plus des morceaux communs, nous travaillons sur un live qui donne un mélange intéressant de nos deux univers musicaux.

3) Quelles sont tes influences dans la région (artistes, label, asso…) ?

Parmi les artistes de la ville, je citerai le duo modulaire SRAMAANA (https://soundcloud.com/sramaana) dont les productions ne cessent de m’impressionner ! Pour ce qui est des DJs, je suis fan de la techno sombre et puissante d’Angel Karel, et j’ai fait la rencontre récente de Nav (https://soundcloud.com/naaaaaav ) petit prodige de techno psychédélique ! 
En ambient, l’artiste à suivre est @verbenaa ! Allez écouter ses sets Camomille ou Verveine, parfaits pour flâner… tellement d’émotion et de mélancolie. 
En House, j’adore Quarante&un (https://soundcloud.com/quarante-un ) qui a un beau répertoire de pépites groovy et élégantes. Et bien sûr, Discorder, pour se défouler sur le dancefloor. (https://soundcloud.com/discorder-and-shit)
Pour ce qui est des labels, « Tunnel Vision Records » de Stakhan est pour moi l’un des meilleurs de la région, avec des sorties aventureuses et bien trippy ! (https://soundcloud.com/stakhan-607786920 )  

4) Un lieu à recommander aux chineurs locaux en quête de bon son/de bonnes soirées ?

J’ai adoré la dernière soirée Every Body Trance organisée dans un Car Wash, une petite rave à Lyon, avec une jauge permettant un cadre beaucoup plus intimiste que les warehouses gigantesques parisiennes ! 
Pour ce qui est des clubs, la programmation du Sucre (très original, oui) est vraiment incroyable, surtout pour les Sunset Society. L’univers libéré et cathartique des soirées No Gender est également un temps fort de la vie nocturne Lyonnaise. Et sinon allez faire un tour à Baston, que j’ai d’ailleurs découvert lors d’une soirée organisée par Chineurs de Lyon

5) Comment vois-tu l’évènementiel et la culture clubbing après l’épisode pandémique actuel ? 

L’internet déborde d’hypothèses et opinions foireuses, personne n’en sait rien et tout le monde spécule. 
Mon hypothèse foireuse : je pense qu’on ne pourra pas danser en rassemblement avant longtemps, perso je danse chez moi TOUS LES JOURS (no shame). Ce qui est sûr c’est que la scène locale ne mourra jamais, on pourra toujours compter sur tous les collectifs passionnés, pour qui c’est difficile en ce moment : 23 :59, Papa Maman & MX, The Future is Female, Tapage Nocturne, Arty Farty, etc.

Podcast CDL #27 - Vel

Despite there being just four years between her arrival onto the scene and the present day, McKenzie Simone has explored a broad groundwork of music and locations before discovering that her true home lay nestled deep within Eurasia. Kickstarting her career in Dubai, the 25-year-old American native has since settled into her current home of Tbilisi, Georgia, her attachment to the underground circuit earning her both a familial reputation and regular bookings across the city in venues such as Khidi and Drama. Her appreciation for a culture that finally celebrated and encouraged individuality and free expression was the motive for her permanent move there following a short visit prior, and in July 2019, McKenzie risked everything she knew by choosing to call this new place home. Her gamble was rewarded and she is now a true rising star of the city, subscribing to a fresh approach on techno within the tangle of bustling clubs that scatter the streets at night. 

For this next instalment of DETECT, we were lucky enough to present a love-letter to the scene from McKenzie in the form of an exclusive mix that she recorded from home for us. Acidic, wild and full of focused determination, this hour-and-fifteen of selections is a punchy statement on the confident direction that McKenzie has with her career, and a declaration of the devotion she has for the city of Tbilisi.
