In this installment of Sound Advice, we talk to twin brothers Matt and Chris Drake, aka MC4D: a project that mixes country, folk and Americana with EDM. After cultivating a SoundCloud fanbase with a DJ mix series inspired by dance artists like Kygo, Avicii and Cheat Codes and popular country songs, they've since released remixes and original tracks with vocalists and musicians, and done songwriting sessions in Nashville and Los Angeles. With the release of their 'Wanderings' EP and current tour, we spoke exclusively to MC4D about their process and how they use SoundCloud to amplify their work, and they gave advice on collaboration, pitching demos and getting noticed in the music business.

I Stay The Same is a confession about cycles we can’t escape — the promises to change, the apologies, the false starts, and the patterns that keep pulling us back.

The song reveals the push and pull: speaking too much or too little, planning exits before beginnings, loving but always staying apart. More importantly, no matter what’s promised, the same mistakes repeat, wearing shame like a second skin. 

The male vocals over sparse guitar, make this track feel like an intimate confession at 3AM — raw, vulnerable, and unfinished, when you’re face-to-face with the patterns you can’t yet break.

Same Table is about sitting across from someone you once loved and realising the closeness is still there, but the connection is gone. It’s the quiet ache of pretending everything’s fine while every glance, every silence, tells the truth.

Built on sparse guitar, and atmospheric textures, this track captures the weight of unfinished conversations and the bittersweet moment when you know love has shifted into something else.

For late nights, headphones, and anyone who’s ever carried the ghost of a relationship into the present.
