this poem was written and performed beautifully by Eric Darby (https://youtu.be/JfTa4B7wQ_8). this recording is simply an experiment asking what would happen if the narrator were a little less altruistic and a little more used car salesman. however, this narrator happened to have a conscience and began coming around towards the end in spite of his own self interest.
