Epsilon Eridani Suite

Between Two Drops, with its slow ambient sounds, examines what a physical experience might be like between two events when interpreted audibly. Whether those two events are physical such as being shot or between emotional states of anguish the sound focuses the listener to hear what is not present in the actual event only what is felt.

The basic tracks for some of these songs were scattered through other music I had recorded over the last ten years.  Quarantine has given me the time to hear some of this music with fresh ears. In most instances dozens of instrument tracks were stripped away to find some forgotten core that made me nod or smile.  Then I started again.  All new recording has been done since the start of lock down and tries to put a sound on the subtle dislocation of a global disaster that is mostly (for me) expressed in my daily life as an absence, a taking away rather than a presence; a distantly felt thing.

Ghosts of ice and snow [naviarhaiku361]

This is my 1st of 2 contributions to the Disquiet Junto 0473...a duet with moduS ponY's contribution 'New Unit' to disquiet0472. It is called 'Leaf Blower'

I recorded the sound of leaf blowers working in Kennington Park, South London, on a grey, covid-19 lockdown day, during my one rationed daily excursion. These leaf blowers appear twice, obviously, in the track but also inscrutably as the sampled waveform which provides the melodic/harmonic base. There is subtle modulation of the pitch, and filter throughout. Tools used include:
