Earthly Measures & Multi Culti come together to present their first release on new collaborative label 'Cult Measures' - First up is Jinje & A Brief Utopia's - 'We Invisible' - a deep, cosmic, experimental 8 track LP with Afro percussion & Jazz influences - perfect for home listening and peak dance-floor in equal measures.

With records out on Mesh, Ostgut Ton, Different, Messrs Kick & Drum, SceneUnseen and his own label, Making Friends, Jinjé (aka, Lee J Malcolm) has been making headway with his solo project in the electronic music scene. As the founding member and main song writer of Vessels (Cuckundoo, BIAS/Leaf, Different/PIAS) he has been DJ’ing and performing live for over two decades.

A Brief Utopia (A project by Jinjé) A Brief Utopia was born from an EP released earlier this year by Jinjé (aka, Lee J Malcolm from Vessels) on Scene Unseen. Stepping away from his usual production duties and focusing more on his passion for live drumming and percussion instruments. This was the starting block for much of the composition on the this record. He quickly realised that this would be a brilliant thing to do live and reached out to fellow musicians Danny Templeman (Submotion Orchestra, Gentleman’s DubClub) and Nathan Moseley (Fwar, Brolin) to put together a high energy show aimed at clubs and festivals alike.A Brief Utopia brings a colourful, vibrant and visually engaging experience. Drawing on a love of music from around the world focused through a lens of live drumming, tuned percussion and psychedelic synth work

Back in 2008, Kommi Torpela acquired his first set of turntables and started spinning hardcore, drum & bass and techno records. Under a different moniker, he performed in various underground parties in Finland.

Some years later, "DJ Kommi Torpela" started off as a not-so-serious side project. It served as an outlet for his 80's and 90's music dj sets, mainly focusing on Italo Disco and Italo House. Further down the line, his interest over genres like Italo Disco, New Beat and EBM grew stronger. As modern productions started to emerge as Indie Dance and Dark Disco, "DJ Kommi Torpela" would then become his main alias.

In his dj sets, he likes to combine new with old, keep things interesting and surprising, and have a right balance between seriousness and playfulness. 

"The Universal Beats guest mix is showcasing my vision of darker side of Italo Disco, what I consider being my main style. It contains a fair amount of my all-time and recent favourites."

Piscolabis II is a super sonic fan where we find the organic and robotic atmosphere of Piscolabis Part I and of course the sound experimentations of Golden Bug. The 10 new tracks presented on this sequel are even wilder and stranger, in the best sense of the word. The rhythms are heavy, the guitars of Lionel from The Limiñanas are razor sharp and the distorted grooves of the drum machines carry curious electronic impulses.

The introductory track “ Paradis ” with its choral, fairy tale and epic atmosphere, gives way to a series of slow, raw and bewitching tracks, such as “ Red Wolf ” featuring Phoebe Coco , the heady and mechanical “ Ricochet ”, “ L'Effet Domino ” carried by the voice of Anna Jean of the band Juniore , “ Toupie ” which takes us on chloroformed, hypnotic electronic highway , the psychedelic “ Hi No Tori ” with japanese guest Vega Voga , the retro-futuristic “ Autobahn ” embodied by the voice of Ruben Kielmannsegge , “ Poc a Poc ”, which plunges us into the world of acid-western and “ Boomerang ”, surfing the wave of dub in shamarnic hues.

Piscolabis II builds its own psychological environment to inhabit. And as you sink deeper into it, the music takes on synesthetic turns, with textures swirling all together, igniting the senses. We encourage you to press play, sit back and listen to the album unfold in its entirety.

Paris-based imprint Cabale Records delivers a VA featuring Sten aka Dial co-founder Lawrence, Pheek, mod303 and Night No Tori x Hubble.
Cabale Records is a Parisian imprint and purveyor of raw, stripped back sounds with a fledling catalogue which so far boasts material from Smallville Records and Dial artist Drux who co-founder the imprint. Here the label marks its first various artist release, welcoming Dial’s Lawrence under his Sten guise, Montreal, Canada and Archipel boss Pheek, the Archipel regulars mod303 and lastly Night No Tori x Hubble.
Pheek’s ‘Woyon Don’ leads and showcases his signature twisted microhouse style with modulating percussion, creaky synth flutters, bouncy bass tones and crisp loopy drums. mod303’s ‘Paname City Zoo’ then dives even deeper with a heavily reduced rhythm section, droplet like synth tones, unfurling atmospherics and murky subs.
Opening the flip-side Night No Tori joins forces with Hubble for ‘Deja vu’, picking up the pace with pulsating synths, shuffled hats, spiralling dub echoes and breathy hypnotic vocals ebbing and flowing amongst one another throughout. Lastly to round out the EP, Lawrence returns to his Sten alias with ‘Slope’, and in typical fashion delivers a seven minitue classy excursion through choppy bass stabs, winding resonant synth lines, dreamy ethereal textures and crunchy, raw drums.
