💫 invites 💫

Nowhereness is a new underground dance show conceptualised and hosted by UKAEA and Ani Kcam, both DJs and producers, and longstanding consorts in the exploration of sonic reverence. The show focuses on mixes which attempt to evade a clear or consistent sense of place in both time and geography. Attention is drawn instead to the veneration of rhythm, noise and atmopshere, and the ways these are exalted in the globe's historic and contemporary rave and club scenes. The pair cover alternate months, sometimes sharing the hour with a guest.

This month Ani Kcam welcomes guest DJ Isora to share the hour. Isora studied violin for 10 years at the Conservatory of Music in Italy, leading her to discover that her vision of life cannot be considered the same without music. She as inspired by electronic and techo music after moving to Glasgow and really found her passion for DJing during lockdown. Her goal is to enable people to go beyond listening, to feel and live the experience of her mixes which centralise the raw magic of the kick drum. Her mix for Nowhereness starts at this point, marching through a ghetto techno journey of wonderfully gross lyrics and wild rhythms.

@djfarsight is back on Scuffed Recordings with three new transatlantic bass heaters on his El Mago EP.

Since his earliest releases, Farsight has become a go-to name for high-impact club tracks that defy categorisation. With appearances on labels like Femme Culture, Tropopause, and [Re]sources, the San Francisco-based artist has continuously evolved and embellished his sound across the course of his career, tapping into myriad global styles on each of his tracks.

El Mago is Farsight’s third EP with UK label Scuffed, continuing a relationship that began with 2019’s Oaktown EP and followed up with his Renegade EP in 2021. Most recently, Farsight appeared with his Breaka collab ‘Flow State’.

As ever picking from a wide palette of influences from across the club music spectrum, Farsight runs the gamut across the EP - variously taking cues from UK funky, drill, dubstep, techno, D&B and footwork over the release’s three tracks, all of which were showcased in Farsight's hyped Boiler Room set in June 2023.

Bit different from my usual Hardcore stuff (and weirdly no Jungle in it hehe) but definitely one of the sets I'm most proud of to date; despite the time slot which could have been slightly scary!

Hotel Voices

“El Fuckso a Sí Mismo”, aka @djfuckshimself a mythical Guardian of Jungle is generally described as a tall and ugly Tectonic-like creature with one leg shorter than the other and one foot larger than the other, pointed backward. He spends his time hoarding jungle, jump-up, and hardcore records on the shelves of his grotto in Gesundbrunnen. Using this vast arsenal of vinyl, he lures his victims deep into the dancefloor until they are lost forever to the sounds of amen. His uncanny ability to mix and blend drums and basslines makes humans fall into a state of hardcore bliss, except for if they see his mismatched feet and thus the spell can be broken.

DJ @skain is yet another Guardian of Jungle and is said to have the ability to transform water into breaks. He is a sort of spirit who guards the Berlin lands and the ravers that inhabit them. According to a local Rixdorf legend, DJ Skain is a member of an older raver species, one that lived long before techno. Most of the time he inhabits the Mega Buff Mansion, located in the heart of the Berlin Jungle scene, where he supposedly has a sick collection of records which he got back in the day and samples to make incredibly dope tracks.
 
For centuries, ravers have argued, spanked, and speculated who is the mightiest Guardian. This Saturday, witness these two Berlin legends spin vinyl in deadly back-2-back warfare live at the Mega Buff Mansion. The illest shall rule.
