Forever Alone (The Kid LAROI x Iann Dior Type Beat)

30 Years ago, Tribe's 'Midnight Marauders' & Wu's 'Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' were released on Nov. 9, 1993.  For some, a hard decision had to be made that day: Do you go with the conscious vibes of Tribe, or the hard street raps of Wu?  The familiar sound of ATCQ, or the debut from the mysterious guys wearing hoodies with stocking caps covering their faces?  If you were lucky, you walked out of the store with both (paid or not). 

Those 2 albums changed my life, so 5 years ago on the 25th anniversary I created 'A Clan Called Wu - Enter The Marauders' as a tribute to both masterpieces.  This is the 2nd chamber in the Wu x Tribe blendtape saga.  The 1st volume featured Wu's gritty vocals over the jazzy Midnight Marauders instrumentals.  This is the reverse combo - Tribe's bouncy vocals over RZA's grimy production.   
No matter how you combine them, the marriage of the 2 forms like Voltron.  All the parts came together to make something new.  Different, yet the same.  Yin & yang.

November 9, 1993 will forever go down as one of the greatest days in hip hop history.  Two of the genre’s most revered albums dropped on the same day:  Wu-Tang Clan’s debut ‘Enter The 36 Chambers’, &  A Tribe Called Quest’s third LP ‘Midnight Marauders’.  I remember riding my bike to the mall, with money I had earned from my after-school job.  I had anticipated this day for awhile, and saved up in advance to pick up both albums (at that age $40 felt like $500).  For the months that followed, both albums fought for playing time on my boombox.  One moment, I was transported to the boulevard of Linden, and the next to the rugged streets of Shaolin.  Those albums stayed in my rotation forever (literally).
To mark the 25th anniversary of both LP’s, I thought it might be a good idea to try and take the vocals from Wu-Tang’s album, and blend them over the instrumentals from Midnight Marauders.  I wasn’t sure it would work at first, but as is usually the case, inspiration hit at midnight when I was trying to sleep (the coincidence of the timing is not lost on me).  A couple of hours later, I managed to pair up every single Wu-Tang vocal with a suitable beat from MM.  The intent was not to improve on the originals in any way….that would be impossible, as I consider them both to be perfect bodies of work.  Rather, it was about orchestrating a fun concept, and putting a totally new spin on these well-worn classics.  The contrast of Wu’s gritty street raps over Tribe’s jazzy production works in an unexpected way.  Now, I present to you my personal tribute to these legendary groups:   A Clan Called Wu - “Enter The Marauders”.

The infectious energy of Brown’s vocals is paired with an unforgiving bass line, delivering a calculated dosage of nu-disco energy. Refined down with a deep groove and phased out sound, this is a cut reserved for the darkest of dancefloors...

Back once again with a renegade funk-filled care package, featuring a sunshine filled heater that flips an infectious War sample to get you grooving into Summer. Premiered on Delia Tesileanu’s ‘Counterpoint’ radio show, the latest Birdland release is a selector’s choice cut to
bring the sunshine vibes to any dancefloor...

The incredible sample at the heart of this tune is selected from War’s OST for the 1978 cult classic ‘Youngblood’. Set in South-Central LA, the film follows Michael aka ‘Youngblood’ as
he’s pulled deep into the gang violence of LA. ‘Sing A Happy Song’ was previously flipped by east coast outfit ‘Brand Nubian’ to cult acclaim, but here the sample takes spotlight on a
much deeper cut...

The tune lays out a deep groove from the get go, with War’s infectious vocal taking center stage to allow for maximum funk. Keeping it restrained, the prime sample is saved for an explosive peak point, entrancing the dancefloor in a state of boogie. Women and children are experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, forced marriage, ‘honour based’ abuse, child sexual abuse, FGM and other forms of violence.
