Funky Clouds

Reminder back to the mid 1980s when I travelled alone to United States to spend some weeks working in an YMCA camp near Chattanooga. The flight was in an old Boeing 707, which the song is about.

Spreading her wings and leaving the ground
Up and away for new adventures
Exploring new space and going westbound

Clouds like mountains, cotton white and vast,
Sunbeams dancing, shadows softly cast.
Towns and rivers like ribbons on the land,
A whole new planet cradled in my hand.
Meals on trays and movies on a screen,
This airplane world, for me a futuristic scene.
The hours melt away and I pull my blanket tight,
Dreaming of adventures in the coming daylight.
