Our guest mix series is back and better than ever! We are so honoured to have been able to catch up with the queen of 160bpm and one of our favourite producers - A. FRUIT!  She is known for her bass-heavy experimental sounds and has featured on huge labels such as Worst Behaviour Records,  Rua Sound and Cosmic Bridge.  In this mix she takes a step back from 160bpm sounds, showcasing her favourite 130-145bpm bits at the moment.

DJ Lawal is a multi-genre DJ hailing from Newcastle. He cut his teeth in Liverpool’s flourishing bass music scene, spinning a range of underground music from Dubstep + Grime, to Trap + UK Funky. As time progressed and following a move to Manchester, his musical portfolio has expanded to include Disco, Hip Hop, Afrobeat, Techno and UKG. Manchester based producer DJ Soyboi isn’t approaching Not Bad For a Girl’s first EP “Big Bally Beats 001” lightly. Their track “Reticulated” is a beautifully crafted progressive 170bpm track that takes us on a high-tempo journey through what Soyboi describes as “snake inspired Dnb”.

As shown on this track, DJ Soyboi has definitely solidified their own sound within the jungle genre. Combining both the darker realms of jungle with their recent release “Brainsticker / Chainsplitter” with chicago inspired footwork, they have definitely set the bar high in terms of production. Soyboi has had a successful year with support from heads such as LCY, India Jordan & VTSS as well as the incredible success of their new club night “Tough Act”, and we are sure their success will not stop here!

Manchester's favourite collective Not Bad For A Girl are making their Label debut with Big Bally Beats 001 - a compilation of Manchester's most hyped women & non-binary producers with all proceeds going to local charity @brightersound. The tracks in the compilation are a super eclectic collection of genres and moods, from dancefloor-ready 160, to lush breaks, to punchy, syncopated GQOM, floaty, vibrant house and more.

Brighter Sound is a creative music charity. Rooted in the North of England, they change the lives of individuals through music, support and promote diverse talent and act as a catalyst for change in the music sector, from education to industry.

Dozet is a DJ/Producer hailing from Novi Sad, Serbia. He is a part of the event collective called "Acropolis" that is dedicated to pushing the limits of Drum & Bass Music.

"Knickerbockers" is a forward-thinking take on Ghetto Slam, combining many genres and taking inspiration from Levela, Imanu and Buunshin. The ugly foghorn sounds were made by using a sound from a real ship horn and combining it with a foghorn sample.

This track is part of Nu Kvlture's 2nd compilation EP "Vol.2" which features tunes from up to 40 artists and spanning between 100-170bpm. This EP has done the rounds from artists such as LCY, A.Fruit, Gremlinz as well as shows on Rinse FM & Boiler Room.

Undoubtedly one of Manchester's finest curators & producers in the scene, Team GB is back with his new 3-tracker “Drum Circle” and we have the honour of premiering it over on our Soundcloud. Not only does he supply the best footwork & juke nights in town with @jukejointmcr, he’s also always been killing it in the production game.

“Get it Gurl” starts off as a percussion-driven track with heavy bass stabs, which rises in energy through the introduction of subtle rave stabs and faster footwork rhythms. Tight hip-hop vocal samples flow in and out throughout to round it off and hook in the listener.

Lucid Juice is now a label, and what better way to kick things off for LJR001, than with a 3 track EP from Manchester based producer Dulha. Coming off the back of releases for Interpolate, Daytimers and Gimme a Break, We’ve been lucky enough to be gifted ‘Wat Wer U Finkin?’ A trio of bass music hybrids that’ll have you thinking that you should be dancing.

Straight out the gate is the title track, a weighty slice of 2-step grime pushing at 142bpm; overbearing skyscraper dread looms atop distorted synths & sirens, while skittering vocal samples snap together with tight percussion. This is until it all spirals out in the breakdown, as the bass takes over and the beat shifts, before coming back together and sending it home.

‘Wat Wer U Finkin?’ will be available digitally from April 29th 2022.

Lucid Juice celebrate their first release alongside DJ and producer Dulha and his attitude driven and breakbeat heavy debut EP Wat Wer U Finkin? set to be released on April the 29th.

Delving into a wealth of influences formative of his musical productions, Dulha’s sound is as much inspired by the anima of early UK grime and garage than it is the alternative of J-Pop and J-Rock. After listening back to a number of his favourite grime tracks, his aim was to create an EP with attitude and demeanour. Leaning on a slew of lofty vocals inspired by catchy J-POP samples, and supported by emulated breakbeats, and syncopated kick drums, Dulha does was he does best by blending musical elements to make a sound unique to his own, translating that very same energy into dance floor ready tracks.

After a long six months of planning and creating, we can finally present to you all the"Rudeboi" Remix EP, The original mix of "Rudeboi" was created late in 2022 and got great reviews and feedback from producers, DJ's, and friends alike, SDLR decided to enlist a squad of some friends, such as Oddkut, Dubzta, Reznik, Jamzigg & More, to create a remix project of heavy proportions. 

With genres spanning across grime, dubstep, garage, half-step, and jungle, and tempo's ranging from 130bpm all the way up to 170bpm. PREMIERE: Team GB - If U Cant Get Down [Sonora Destroy Records]

Having been on the scene running underground parties celebrating the left-field around London for the last three years, the off-kilter rave collective fragment on machines have curated a selection of genre-defying talent from the UK and abroad for their debut compilation release.

FOM001 was created with the intent of raising money for the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and Medical Aid Palestine and features 12 unique club-adjacent tracks ranging from cinematic Bladerunner breaks to gritty, unstable hyperpop, from artists united by their support of the Palestinian people.

Track 10 is a hypnotic, 808-driven thinkpiece by South London DJ and producer Shokunin. ‘Pantone 355 C’, the colour code for the green of the Palestinian flag, is a track driven by its spatiality. Shokunin’s skin-tight percussive textures and pensive ambience that define his production style are present here, and are pushed into psychedelic territory by the kinetic 3D soundscape their interactions form. Shokunin is a co-founder of the experimental label and arts collective BONSE1 and has proven himself as one to watch for 2024.
