Ce projet a été réalisé à partir de l'EP Insula de dr33 (https://dr33.bandcamp.com/album/insula) - les 4 morceaux de l'EP ont été morcellés sous forme de loops qui ont été samplées pour être rejouées sous effets sur une Traktor s4. L'intervalle qui décale les loops forme le rythme - l'extrait devient fragment d'autre chose qui n'a aucune durée propre si ce n'est celle de cet enregistrement. Les loops sont progressivement remplacées d'un morceau à l'autre pour accompagner vers une autre forme de recomposition de ces mêmes éléments agencés différemment - samplés, les morceaux deviennent eux-mêmes des notes rejouées et altérées, rendant l'original obsolète tant il est méconnaissable dans ce tout formé de ses propres parties, qui sont déjà les fragments d'autre chose que lui-même.

This project was totally composed of the tracks of the EP Insula by dr33 mashed up together (https://dr33.bandcamp.com/album/insula) – the 4 tracks of the EP have been sampled and looped to be played under effects on Traktor S4. The rythm is produced by the intervals between reschedulded loops – the samples become the fragments of something else, which has no proper duration except the one of this recording. The loops are gradually replaced, track by track, from track to track, to lead towards other forms of recomposition of these same pieces differently organised – sampled, tracks become notes played again and again, and altered, making the original obsolete per se, because it becomes unrecognisable through this whole, built up by its parts, which are already fragments of something other than itself.

You only need to have a quick nose around phil in a maze’s impressive raft of self-released singles to understand the depth of his production skills. Alternately harnessing the raw power of tech-inflected dnb and the impressionistic sophistication of dub, his set at the Unsound Closing Party at 89 was a game of tempo division and multiplication, featuring stuttering drum patterns and sludgy dancehall.

Als würde der leise Schneefall in einer abendlich, gelblich beleuchteten Straße behutsam vertont werden.. diese wohlbefindliche Gefühl bzw Bild kann sich heute beim Hören einstellen. Wahnsinn, was Musik und Track-Selection ausmachen können.

Apropos Tracks, hinter dem heutigen Act steht auch das Leipziger Non-Profit Microlabel ADVENTUROUS MUSIC, welches sich auf experimentelle Audio und Visual spezialisiert hat - unbedingt mal vorbeischauen bzw -lesen, denn dort ist auch das Zuhause vom neuen "EX! Magazin for Experimental Art"!
