Epic Down is a duo from Leipzig, Germany dedicated to the sluggish grooves and lumbering riffs of sludge & doom, started in 2021 by Mitzschi (guitar(s)/bass) and Fabian (drums/vocals).
Influenced by primal doom, drone and stoner, the sound of Epic Down is mainly characterized by solid downtempo grooves and rolling walls of guitars, complemented by slightly melancholic vocals.

With the release of their first EP "Equinox Pt1" and it’s sequel "Equinox Pt2" in 2023, the band stepped into the light of publicity.
After signing to Argonauta Records the band was able to celebrate the release of „days of oblivion“ as their debut album in fall 2024.

My aim with (neo)- psychedelia
Is to be free of formal song structures. 
To allow emotions, both dark and light, to express themselves and reveal deeper images and messages from the subconscious and from soul. (Soul inspired music btw is not always pretty and polite)
I like to create atmospheres in which to hang out for a time
No barriers so I can then hybridise with other genres
I'm open to everything from Bach to Billy Idol (excepting Strauss waltzes and fairground organs... however I'm open to persuasion)
Hopefully to surprise and to disorientate. To use minimalist repeating phrases which build and give a hypnotic vibe or groove
Psychedelia teaches us that there is no rush, it's not the end that matters it's the process of getting there, that is my true goal
But I also bear in mind the imperative to be relevant 
The late 60's early 70's gave us so many great musical gifts (Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa etc the list is very long) and I for one am happy to keep unwrapping them
I highly value improvisation and jamming (but I have a no noodling policy). Instrumental music has a vocabulary of emotions with which I'm always mindful that there is a story encoded. 
I always record the first take as this is where magic, beyond the mind, can instantly emerge. An out of key, "mistake" is redefined as an accidental note or a borrowed chord a "surprise" and can liberate the piece from predictability. A degree of disharmony and musical tension are often necessary within a piece so that the subsequent release into harmony and joy is a highlighted sense of relief and spaciousness 
It's not so much about striving for technical perfection, it's about first and foremost serving the song.
I love that a piece can literally emerge from the tone of a single note, lightly asking "I wonder where this will take me?"
This keeps me guessing and ever curious 
In musical flow states, I am sometimes transcended into subtler realms of spirit. I've met some of my muses there... it can be very ecstatic 
Life on this planet, when observed for long enough, consists of periods of challenge leading to more settled blissful states... but one can only ever acknowledge these and keep on moving through, cycle after cycle.
Sometimes the pain and the bliss are simultaneous.
Psychedelia is here to remind us, usually with a mixture of compassion and gentle non insistent wisdom, that we are all equally valid and as important as one another.
The generation of this music doesn't require me to be in any specific state, prior to playing, in order to engage with it.

Personally I don't play the SoundCloud game of equal reciprocation. Every time my life as a Dad allows me to listen to a song... I listen to the whole song as I want to give genuine feedback and also learn as much as I can whilst here. So sorry if I don't listen and like and repost loads of your songs. Id prefer to support people by actually helping with the skills I've developed and give less frequent yet valuable feedback where possible then just playing the game of likes. That said I completely understand and appreciate people that decide to do that, that's you and you are as amazing as I am so no judgement. I just want to be clear with you that you won't get any artificial spreading of your music from here but you'll get my honest opinion based on what I imagine you were aiming for. This has helped me transcend musical taste in a way. I'm always imagining what you wanted as opposed to what I like. This has opened up some serious musical doors for me, embracing music that way instead of pre judging it based on what I've already heard... Lose the taste and expand your horizons is maybe what it is suggesting... I've always been a multi genre artist but this has activated multiple genre from an artistic point of view on steroids for TBD! A musical tri sexual.... The Get to Down! 🫡

Speaking of the music doing the talking. Make sure you use AI to enhance the development of your skill. Getting a result delivered to you that doesn't reflect your ability isn't soulful. Be honest with yourself and be honest about what technology is and how it has come to be. There is a very questionable built in theft of our spirited art works that has been used to build current LLMs so the onus is on each of us as individuals to decide both whether or not we feed that beast at all and how we let that technology feed and enhance or limit our beings...

I've had mine and I decided for now... Only my fingers and voice will feed my music. AI needs to be made conscientiously for me to embrace it at all. I may look at it for DAW automation in the future as that will free up my fingers to make better songs but I'll wait until politicians do their jobs (we'll be waiting a while no doubt) and clean it up for all of us!
