Cryogenic Dreams

For a while now I've wanted to try and paint a specific picture or emotion with a song. I had a great opportunity to do this when I felt ecstatic and uplifted after watching a movie, which was right when the sunrise started shining into my studio. This song reflects that emotion I had then.. I even recorded the ambience of the birds/ animals/ noise around my Seattle home at that point in time from the standing point of my studio with a field recorder, which is what the track starts and ends with. I wrote out the melodies and main groove quick while the emotion lasted, and finished the rest later. I'm stoked to see now that, the original emotion was captured in the song. One of the most beautiful natural highs that I get...

Here's my new single out on Desert Dwellers​' label Desert Trax. We put on a remix contest for this and the three winners are listed on Beatport (including 19-year-old Doan from Vietnam!), as well as a remix from Terrakroma​.  Especially when it’s drenched in reverb :) It's a Native American flute (F# Heart Chakra), I love playing this flute so much! I played tunes of mine that I thought were appropriate for a sunny summer afternoon. When I showed up to the stage is was a pleasant surprise to see thousands of people there at the opening ceremony for the festival. I didn't know that ceremony was going to be on the stage I was performing at (Earth Stage, pic is shown), so this was an epic surprise. The ceremony was very powerful and moving and I ended up picking new songs of mine to start out my set about 60 seconds before I started playing music. Symbioses throws my favorite music festivals in the US so I'm deeply grateful to be involved! It's free download and the quality with the free download sounds WAY better than SoundCloud.

This set was from 6-8:30pm. There was a break a half hour into it for a circle that happens with some discussion with the community, the only edit I made to this recording was to take out that part. I went into this event intentionally not knowing what songs I would play or in what order I would play them, I decided to pick them on the fly depending how how things felt in the moment. Eugene, Oregon (where this dance was) has stronger affinity toward vintage music than any place I can think of so I was trying to work that into this mix a bit. Luke’s dynamic live act includes playing a mixture of electronic and acoustic music while mixing in multiple live wind instruments and live drumming. His lifelong devotion to community dance medicine started at age 14 in 1998 when he started to DJ at northwest USA raveriffic events! He then started touring the world and releasing hundreds of songs released with a large number of the biggest labels in the world like Selador, Desert Hearts, Digital Structures, Dreaming Awake, Desert Trax, Booka Shade Music. 

This is deep piscean scorpio music, sprinkled with unusual sounds, unexpected twists, eclectic mix of global sounds, various tempos and grooves. It reflects stories of love-driven culture and open-minded ideas.  Depending on the crowd, the sets can vary from being pretty and uplifting to deep, dark, and primal, although they typically feature melodic and atmospheric textures infused with a lot of emotion.  Luke also has a functional (natural, root cause) medicine practice as this weaves so beautiful with dance and music medicine. He helps people heal frequent issues of the gut, metabolism and tiredness.
