Music world lost another extremely important pioneer, our beloved Godfather of House, Frankie Knuckles. May he rest in everlasting peace. As the world mourns his passing it's important that we celebrate the movement that he's created. From House to Electronic Dance Music we owe all the praise to Frankie Knuckles. It's icons like Frankie (The Warehouse), Larry Levan (Paradise Garage), David Mancuso (The Loft) and Nicky Siano (The Gallery) that established dance music culture during the 70's and 80's in NYC and Chicago which ultimately changed the face of nightlife across the globe.  The message was always in the music. Dancing was the key of life. What you're about to listen to is a direct reflection of these pioneers via records they loved and played with lots of Frankie Knuckles productions and remixes throughout. His music raised me. Records like "Tears" and the "Whistle Song" have never left my crates. He will be sorely missed but the music lives on. 

At No Limits the idea is to continue the legacy of good music across the board with no boundaries, the way things used to be and should remain. Note, this is a live set, crowd noise will be heard throughout. Enjoy!

I’ve always had a strange fascination with airport terminals, you’re in this strange limbo, neither here nor there and whenever I have a layover in another country I turn to music to keep me occupied.

I wanted to record what I’m listening to and share it with you, each country gives off it’s own vibe and it reflects in my song choices. I’ll be in some amazing places within the next few weeks and as much as I would love to take you with me the best I can do is share what keeps me going

As one of Africa's many dispersed children, imagining what a fictitious, hyper modern African republic might sound like was something I had been doing for years. I wanted to place Wakanda within the context of the Africa of post-colonial pan-Africanist  consciousness and give it meaning to those of us removed from our motherland by thousands of miles and dozens of generations.

Shine was a song included on my first solo album "Songs from Red Dirt". I recorded that project on the SF based Cellular Records. One of the BayArea's legendary DJ's David Harness used to spin at Taboo, End Up, and a few other spaces and we developed a relationship. Having mostly recorded Hip-Hop, but being a House head, I was interested in what he'd do to enhance the already soulful ENS mix on the album. Was David created became an underground (white label?) wonder that still seems to "move me" and others. Enjoy!

Aphrosoul is a musical, cultural, and spiritual polymath. In addition to being a captivating DJ, he is a spiritual conduit, plant- based yogi, Usui/Tibetan Reiki master teacher, and founder of Lukumi People Music & Oracle Bohemian Artifacts.

He is also the founder of the long-running sacred dance gathering, MOJÙGBÁ, which began in 2013 and based in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York. Aphrosoul is also a cofounder of two annual festivals — HEAL & RELEASE DC and Solsdance. Both festivals focus on holistic health and wellness via the mediums of art, music and dance.
 
In 2017, Aphrosoul returned to his radio broadcasting roots, which began at KPFT 90.1FM and KTRU 96.1FM  between 1999 and 2002. He currently curates a weekly broadcast radio show on WPFW 89.3FM and a bi-weekly internet radio show on Eaton Radio
 
Aphrosoul takes people on a journey back to their divine selves through the Yoruba spiritual practice of ancestral reverence and guidance, using uplifting vibrational frequencies to facilitate love and healing through the power of music.
