Cantaloupe Island, originally by Herbie Hancock, has an intimate version by Milton Nascimento on the album Pietá (2005), which explores the roots of jazz and Brazilian music with a minimalist band lineup: Milton Nascimento (vocals and acoustic guitar), Herbie Hancock (piano), and Pat Metheny (acoustic guitar). This remix is an attempt to engage with these sonic layers and expand them with electronic elements.

The original version is already a jazz landmark, but Milton’s reinterpretation, with its delicacy and emotional depth, brought a new perspective. My remix aims to merge the best of these influences: Herbie’s groove and Milton’s soul, with the classic house beat.

Este remix é uma tentativa de dialogar com essas camadas sonoras e expandi-las com elementos eletrônicos.

A versão original é um clássico do jazz, mas a reinterpretação de Milton traz uma nova perspectiva. Meu remix busca fundir o melhor dessas influências: o groove de Herbie e a alma de Milton, com a clássica batida do house.

“Eu Perdi Seu Amor” is a classic from 1978 performed by Cornelius, also known artistically as Cornelius Lúcifer. He was part of the debut album by the band Made in Brazil, one of the pioneers of Brazilian rock. After leaving the band in 1976, Cornelius explored other genres and achieved nationwide success with the album Santa Fé, a classic of Brazilian soul music. The original track, composed by Paulinho Camargo, became a hallmark of the Brazilian disco/soul era. 

My remix is an attempt to revive this artist by giving his work a fresh look. I blend the iconic bassline and vocals of the original version with synth arpeggios, pads, and the percussion of Paraíso do Tuiuti, the samba school from my childhood neighborhood, São Cristóvão, in Rio de Janeiro. The beat, of course, incorporates house music elements seamlessly woven into the vibrant rehearsal of Paraíso do Tuiuti’s drumline. Listen to Cornelius and Paraíso do Tuiuti. This year, the school is telling the story of Xica Manicongo, considered the first Brazilian trans woman.

“Eu Perdi Seu Amor” é um clássico de 1978 interpretado por Cornelius, também conhecido artisticamente como Cornelius Lúcifer. Ele participou do primeiro disco da banda Made in Brazil, uma das pioneiras do rock brasileiro. Após deixar a banda em 1976, Cornelius explorou outros gêneros e alcançou grande sucesso em todo o país com o álbum Santa Fé, um clássico do soul brasileiro. A faixa original, composta por Paulinho Camargo, é um marco da era disco/soul brasileira. 

Meu remix é uma tentativa de resgatar esse artista, dando uma nova roupagem à sua obra. Misturo a icônica linha de baixo e os vocais da versão original com arpejos de synth, pads e a bateria da escola de samba Paraíso do Tuiuti, do meu bairro de origem, São Cristóvão, no Rio de Janeiro. O beat, claro, traz elementos de house music, costurados em um delicioso ensaio da bateria da Paraíso do Tuiuti. Vai ouvir Cornelius e Paraíso do Tuiuti. Esse ano o enredo é a história de Xica Manicongo, considerada a primeira mulher trans do Brasil.

This remix reimagines "Palco Azul", infusing it with electronic beats, layered synths, and glitchy textures. Sandra's powerful vocals remain at the core, now enveloped in futuristic atmospheres that bridge eras. The goal is to honor the original track's rootsy groove while propelling it into a new context where the legacy of Brazilian black music merges with the global language of electronic sounds. A tribute to resilience and reinvention, merging Brazilian black music heritage with the global language of electronic music.

A proposta é honrar o groove raiz da faixa original, enquanto a projeta para um novo contexto, onde a herança da black music brasileira se funde com a linguagem global da música eletrônica.

Palco Azul - Sandra de Sá (Concreto Remix)

Raiz Coral was a Brazilian vocal group of modern christian music, major promoters of black music and R&B in the gospel scene. I can no longer consider myself a Christian. Still, I was raised in church, and this traditional christian children’s song was one of my first contacts with music, in the Sunday school of an Assembly of God in the forgotten countryside of Rio de Janeiro.

Founded in 2000 by Sergio Saas and Scooby in Capão Redondo, in the Southern zone of São Paulo, the group was composed of young people from the inner city who found in music a way to express peace, joy, and hope.

O Raiz Coral foi um grupo vocal brasileiro de música cristã moderna, grandes difusores da black music e R&B no meio gospel. Não posso mais me considerar um cristão, mas fui criado em igreja e essa tradicional música cristã infantil é um dos meus primeiros contatos com a música na escola dominical de uma Assembléia de Deus do esquecido interior do Rio de Janeiro. 

Fundado em 2000 por Sergio Saas e Scooby no Capão Redondo, zona sul de São Paulo, o grupo era composto por jovens suburbanos que encontraram na música uma forma de expressar paz, alegria e esperança. Meu remix é uma homanagem a tantos clássicos do gospel que se tornaram clássicos do house.

Released in 1977 on the album "Nesse Inverno" by Columbia, "Não Vejo a Hora" (I Can’t Wait) stands as a highlight of Tony Bizarro’s dive into Brazilian black music. After his rock duo Tony & Frankye, Bizarro embraced soul and funk, crafting an album now revered as a cult classic, later revived in the Columbia Raridades series, produced by Charles Gavin. Penned by Yara & Tulla and arranged by the legendary Lincoln Olivetti, the track brims with lush strings and grooves, pure Brazilian Soul at its finest.

The remix reworks "Não Vejo a Hora" with electronic beats while preserving its soulful heart. Bizarro’s raw vocals take center stage, now framed by organic percussive samples, futuristic synths, and playful electronic twists. This is where 1970s Brazilian black music meets global electronic beats, a time-traveling groove anchored in the now.

Após sua passagem pela dupla de rock Tony & Frankye, Bizarro mergulhou no soul e no funk, criando um disco que hoje é relíquia, resgatado anos depois na série Columbia Raridades, produzida por Charles Gavin. A faixa foi composta pela dupla Yara e Tulla e arranjada pelo lendário Lincoln Olivetti, que lança cordas deliciosas e groove no melhor estilo soul BR 70.

O remix revisita "Não Vejo a Hora" mantendo a essência soul, mas atualizando com batidas eletrônicas.
