Cleaning up my computer and files I came across many tracks I've done in the past that are useless and horrible. Buuut I found a couple that I felt could work pretty well nowadays. Everyone is playing fast, so let's just go back in time to my hard drive 7 to 10 years ago and enjoy some 105 to 110 bpm tunes. Repetitive, groovy, heavy basslines and a good old snare.

Peaces is Rizki Soerja Djanegara, a new Indie Dance/Dark Disco project coming all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia. With an interesting blend of references from New Wave, Disco, Rock, and Postpunk, Rizki has spot-on appearances on important labels of the scene such as Rotten City Files, Boite Music, Oberwave, and Quixotical. The young and skilled producer lands now on the solid Berlin-based imprint ODD Pleasures with his “Hour Strike” EP, a darkness-meets-groove feast featuring two noteworthy originals and their respective remixes made with love by his fellow countryman Arvin Fajar and Spanish virtuoso JGR.

The mastermind behind the parcel we handpicked to review/premiere is a producer, DJ, and engineer also hailing from Jakarta. Arvin has well-received cuts published on Double Deer, Ombra International, and Play Pal Music, and now debuts on ODD with an exquisite interpretation of “Poised Ranger”. 

Kicking up a notch of the release even more, Arvin manages to deliver a more intricate vision of the theme by adding a kind of naughty gait to it. Excitement and feverishness seize the stage and result in a powerful and spirited take ready to trigger brand-new dance floor memories.

With "Columbiformes EP", Rawax once again makes space for Matthias Schildger to channel his many musical personas into one cohesive yet versatile release. Known under aliases like Star_Dub, Binary Operator, Polyfan Polyphenix, CNTRL, or simply M.S., Schildger uses his decades of experience to deliver five tracks that balance minimal precision with atmospheric playfulness.

"Pigeon Swarm (Vinyl Edit)" sets the tone with stripped-back minimal energy that harks back to the golden days of the genre. Percussive and bouncy, its groove feels both light and infectious, while a deep synth-line quietly fills the background, giving the track the depth it needs to stay locked on the floor. It’s minimal music at its grooviest and most timeless.

"Columbiformes" shifts gears into something darker and heavier. Built around a wobbling synth-line and a massive, almost physical bassline, the track still keeps its stripped-back character, but its energy is undeniable. Playful in details yet menacing in presence, it’s the kind of cut that shackles dancers to the groove without offering much of a way out.

"Breakin’ Doves" opens the B-side with a deep and breakbeat-driven mood, carrying that late-night atmosphere Matthias crafts so well. A subtle sense of melancholy runs beneath the breaks and grooves, creating a track that feels like the soundtrack to a dancefloor lost in time - irresistible, driving, but wrapped in a kind of nocturnal haze.

"Bird Hypnotizm" rounds off the vinyl edition with trippy textures and atmospheric spirals. The track is playful yet entrancing, layering Matthias’ sound design into an environment that feels otherworldly but never loses its dancefloor focus. It’s hypnotic, subtle, and perfectly suited as a closer.

The digital-only track, "A Song For Feral Pigeons," is perhaps the EP’s secret weapon. Lean and minimal, but with a deep groove that keeps listeners moving, it’s a reminder of Matthias’ ability to create understated yet captivating pieces. Its combination of groove and texture makes it a fitting companion to the vinyl cuts and ensures the "Columbiformes EP" ends on a note that is as functional as it is thoughtful.

Altogether, "Columbiformes EP" is Matthias Schildger at his most versatile - merging minimal grooves, breakbeat flourishes, and atmospheric soundscapes into a release that feels both classic and forward-looking. It’s a record that honors minimal’s past while continuing to evolve it, much like the restless flight of the birds that inspired it.

The remix album “Hands On Artificial'' welcomes 11 diverse electronic music producers from Lithuania who have expressed their personal interpretation of the duo's Artfcl compositions from their debut album “Artificial”. Artfcl's debut album "Artificial" consists of 16 tracks. According to the authors, efforts have been made to create the album in an extremely eclectic manner, so that neither the mood nor the musical styles nor the timbre will be repeated while listening to the album. The result is great - each track tells its own story, but at the same time complements the overall concept of the album. The idea to remix the album was thrown out to the active participants of the Lithuanian electronic music scene. Eleven participants have responded. They all had to choose their favorite track to remix. Some chose a few. The compilation contains 22 remixes from prominent electronic music artists revealing themselves in different music genres like ambient, electronica, IDM, or techno. This remix album is an explosion of today’s Lithuanian electronic music delivering the super actively creating artists from the local scene. All of them create the future sound of Lithuanian electronic music. The compilation contains amazing works from Auren, Black Water, Dubonautik, Five Rituals, Jaroška, Lulu, Monikaze, Phun Thomas, Roe Deers, Shkema, and Artfcl themselves. Artfcl “Hands On Artificial'' remix album is available in all digital music stores as well as all music streaming platforms. The album is sponsored by Lithuanian Council for Culture.
