Serotonin Records’ epic odyssey to bring endless funk to the world has again found a deep vain of grooves to mine. 
 
Having all the features of a Serotonin classic, SER024 Neurotic Drum Band - The Last Parabola / Ulysses - Palefinger is a 3-track split EP with loops/locked-grooves on the vinyl. 
 
Neurotic Drum Band’s Last Parabola arcs upwards from an earthly base of machine funk and launches through the atmospheric layers to stellar reaches of the cosmic void (well, as far into the cosmic void that was reachable from the comfort and safety of their music studio/living room couch, at any rate). 
 
Ulysses provides two perspicacious* takes on the Serotonin vibe.  Shiny Destruction drives and drifts, balancing melancholy and random angular twists. The airtight yet sultry groove of Palefinger slides along swiftly with caustic undertones. *having a ready insight into and understanding of things. 
 
 
As the Neurotic Drum Band, veteran producers Elliot Taub aka Ulysses and John Selway combine their formidable talents to keep dance music fun, mixing elements of classic House, Disco, Techno, Electro and random audio weirdness into a genre-defying mish-mash that excites the ears and tickles the fancy. 

When it comes to new music from Ulysses, you never know what you're going to get. His productions span across genres. His love of obscure Disco and Techno led to experiments in the studio, toying with disparate sounds such as noise, pop, rock-n-roll, ambient, reggae, blues, funk, electro, new wave and hard techno, with every release delivering an exciting musical surprise. An essential pioneer of the late-‘90s electro scene in New York, Ulysses threw some of the biggest large-scale electro parties with legends such as Alexander Robotnick and Arthur Baker, as well as stars like I-f, Adult, and Miss Kittin and the Hacker.  Over the span of his eclectic discography, this Brooklyn-based DJ and music producer has collaborated with many including Thugfucker’s Holmar Filipsson as Filipsson & Ulysses and of course with John Selway in the somewhat prolific Neurotic Drum Band.

2019 begins with a full-blown return to Dr. Schmidt’s roots: Industrial-inspired, bassheavy, and machine-like BreakBeats full of detail and heavy atmospheres… 

Apparition delivers the kind of trademark Technobreaks, Maschinen Musik has become famous for. Heavy kick drums are backed by deep-driving basslines, woven into acid chirps, menacing synth lines, and pads. Full of twists and edits, the track hammers to an epic breakdown, just to pick up again and send the listener into the second round of dancefloor mayhem. Heavy, yet groovy, Apparition is the ideal weapon for aby sweat-loaded peaktime. Essential.     

Forge deploys and equally heavy framework but with a much more stripped down, hypnotizing character. A relentlessly grooving beat, carried by a heavy bass foundation, and embedded in ever changing drones and atmospheres, sets the stage for pulsating pads and minimal bleeps and klonks. Industrial Electro in essence, equally suited for listening as for the deeper dancefloors. Recommended.

Legend mode has been switched on for Bass Agenda Recordings’ 90th release, with UMEK’s Electro alias Zeta Reticula bringing his distinctive floor filling sound on vinyl and digital formats. In his own words ‘I think this is the best Zeta Electro I have made since EP 2 A1’.

For those who need telling, track A1 on his infamous EP 2 on Billy Nasty’s equally infamous Electrix label remains one of the genres benchmark tracks for high energy, techno tinged Electro. A classic, and to say this is his best work since is quite a statement – especially given the high quality of his releases in general and particularly in the last couple years when this alias came back with a vengeance.

Already receiving early support from Dave Clarke on his mighty Whitenoise show, these four new tracks are ‘killers’, ‘bombs’, ‘fire’, ‘heaters’, and all the other words Electro heads reserve for the good stuff. These are the kind of tracks that unlock that extra energy reserve a weary raver finds when they hear them. Driving, powerful rhythms and infectious hooks from start to finish. Gear changing Electro music at it’s best.

Kretz Profile : 
Kretz, born in Stockholm and raised on the island of limestone (Gotland) has a long history in the music industry. Started off making music on the C64, Atari and Amiga for various hacker / cracker / demoscene groups, the spark of electronic music was born. I have been involved with a lot of record labels / companies around the world (Svek, Loop records, Skint Records, Good looking, Mo’wax, React, Paper Recordings, Why Not, Reco-Nice, Plump House, Sub-Stance to name a few) in business or production. Production wise I have done everything from deep underground techno, acid jazz, trip-hop to ex hippies playing the sitar. Schooled on the analog scene with classic analog waveform creation to reel to reel recording. 
I have a past as a record company A&R and as a label manager. With a heart for the electronic music i now release under 3 different names: Anode, Rex 42 and finally Kretz.

¡Escúchame, Cabrón! is a limited-edition C50 cassette announced for pre-order on International Women's Day and made up exclusively of female artists or groups and collaborations featuring a strong female presence.

The purpose of the release is to bring to light, in our own small way, the systemic violence and oppression of women in Spain and around the world and to highlight the incredible female voices present in industrial and synthwave music today.

Spain is a country close to our hearts. It's a beautiful, historic, energetic and culturally-rich nation. Today, the problems women have to face in a society that is generally a privileged population are completely unnecessary. Problems such as being cross-examined in rape trials, gang rape cases being downgraded to sexual assault and an abundance of domestic violence. An average of one woman in killed by her partner per week.

In 2017 Spanish courts received more than 166,000 gender violence complaints against woman - a 16% increased on the year before. Spain is certainly not an exception. Some national studies show that up to 70 per cent of women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Next up is a very special treat, rallying up some top-notch producers from Figure‘s extended circle. In a massive remix package, these artists have compiled their efforts to deliver singular takes on Len Faki‘s 'Robot Evolution' off the label‘s recent anniversary compilation FIGURE 100. 
Benjamin Damage manages to mine the original track for its raw essence, harnessing a rough and lively, yet streamlined high energy track. 

The clever rework of Charlotte de Witte shows off her deeper side, providing a submerged feel while not losing focus of the floor and sprinkling in the acid stab for good measure.

Emika‘s creative interpretation is pairing her bread and butter – pulsing sub-bass and battering grime-style synth-arps – with a completely new vocal dub. Her fresh fusion of genre-specific tropes serves as a delightful surprise and is one to make the heads turn.

Jensen Interceptor turns in exactly the kind of fast-moving, tightly grooving, no-nonsense electro that we‘ve come to expect from the prolific producer. Straight up and honest, a true Drexciyan descendant.
Galloping and hopping, it‘s the Midnight Operator-remix that paces at breakneck speed yet luckily offers some great breakdown moments to catch your breath before they hammer it home on this stuttering full-throttle ride. Creativity abound, this package proves a worthy successor to the original track, and has helped the robot evolve all of its model‘s specific features!
