Pure energy shines through our latest compilation, where all producers gathered together for a good cause. Lockdowns and social distancing practices are slowly easing up in the luckier half of the world, yet local producers and clubs are still facing a hard ongoing period of no live shows with a non-existing club culture. As a result, web-based platforms are more important than ever.

The Lahmacun community radio is an integral part of our Budapest scene, as they provide a remarkable online platform not only to musicians and DJs, but to local broadcasters, hosts and music enthusiasts alike. Keeping up the spirit, Lahmacun radio is eager to promote and celebrate music from the local Hungarian scene and from passionate labels, collectives and communities, be it anywhere in the world.

This 20-track fundraising compilation is therefore dedicated to Lahmacun radio. It is presented by 10 local and 10 international producers, hailing from the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Greece and Israel. All of us worked and participated in this compilation to help the operation of this very important platform. All income we receive from sales of this V/A goes to support their work.

Self Learning System present their very first record and deliver a new label focussing on conceptual work as well as interdisciplinary art in full effect.

We believe in the human mind as a self-learning system - creators and originators connected all around the globe aiming to keep the scene alive. We want to cultivate a community and platform for exchange with other artists pursuing music, design, art and events.

Our first strike comes as “The Arrival Of Unisex & Ernst”, a split EP of the two labelheads to introduce themselves and the sound of SLS. The record contains six analog hardware tools ranging from classic Electro to Industrial.

SELF001 also includes an A2 inlay print of Dominik Widmanns acrylic painting „Fabric“ (as pictured). His artworks will cover our first three records, fitting perfectly with the cold and futuristic soundscapes we want to showcase.

Self Learning System is based in Leipzig, where we work together with the local R.A.N.D. Muzik record pressing plant and InchByInch distribution.

Hands trembling, lip quivering; she struggled to keep her poise when he entered the room. She didn't know what had come over her, she was never like this. In fact she considered herself a cool, calm and confident person but there was something about his presence that instilled fear into her. She couldn't put her finger on what it was, but it didn't sit well with her. She felt as though she were losing control.

For their next outing Italy's Raw Culture welcome Fontaine SMC to the family: a project made up of two French artists and friends. Joined by their shared passion for electronic music, the duo have previously released several projects under other names which have often been filed under IDM and electro, but this time round they're diving deep into their love for synthwave and punk. Titled 'I Was A Soldier' the EP is a social criticism and exploration of human fears and hard relationships, voiced through a blend of EBM, raw, industrial synthesis and punkish, commanding vocals.

Rise of the Machines is the debut collaboration between two exciting new players in the electro scene - Erik Griffoen & Ben Evans aka The Droid, who have been forging new sounds across a multitude of heavy tracks over the past two years that have picked up strong radio support from Dave Clarke on White Noise, Ralph Lawson on Exit Planet Earth and Qamar Sol on Space is the Place, alongside plays from by ADT, Paul Hierophant, Damo B and Dexorcist.

ROTM features four tracks of cutting edge electro that transition from peak time in the club to moments of pure tripped out musical bliss, all delivered with expert production and sound design.

Kicking off the release comes the title track ‘Rise Of The Machines’, this quirky yet nuanced excursion sets the pace, allowing it’s nifty ricocheting sequences, slick 808s, and tripped out ear candy to hit the clubs. ‘Prisoners features a wiggly bass led jam, plastered with synths and finished with a dash of vocoded vocals.

Onto the flip side - ‘Room And Pillar’ grabs the bull by the horns with a tough and aggressive bass line driven banger. Shrieking, twisted synth lines and FX are shattered across the track, keeping tension levels peaking, while TR808 rhythms cut through with military precision. Contrasting ‘The Neutral Zone’ sucks us into a deep atmospheric orbit of blissful yet inquisitive FM synthesis, distant emotive pads, fortified by warm stately bass tones.

The Exit Planet Earth series continues with the first ever collaboration between two undisputed electro funk heavyweights Egyptian Lover & Soul Clap. Egypt knows how to rock the TR808 like no other and has been a true player on the LA electro scene since 1984. While Soul Clap have forged their unique E-Funk sound coming out of New York City as part of the Crew Love Collective. The resulting track ‘Hai Karate’ is a slice of superbly produced classic electro designed to rattle bass bins from Miami to Mars.

Following form in classic electro directions Futurenauts present their debut track ‘We Are The Futurenauts’ that brings a slower based groove reminiscent of A Love From Outer Space trip into the cosmos and delivers a powerful message to humanity.

The flip side sees a welcome return to 20/20 Vision from the Maltese magician Sound Synthesis who continues the vocoded vocals but adds a state of the art assault on the senses with a slamming track aimed firmly at the discerning dancefloor.

EPE08 Krypton is finished off in fine style by Mick Wilson & August Artier with ‘Akira’s Cry’, which fuses a deep house bassline and chords with tight breakbeat programming and powerful lead strings…

"This is Bizarr, my first full length record. On this release, I tried to amp up the ritualistic tendencies found on the Diabel EP, which was also released at Knekelhuis. I’ve always been intrigued by the world of rituals and transcendence, both from an anthropological and spiritual perspective. Bizarr is built around these concepts and to create it I traveled to the island of Phuket, Thailand, to experience and embrace the soul and spirit of the Nine Emperor Gods festival, also known as the Vegetarian Festival. It has its origins in the beginning of the 19th century and is held annually in September/October in accordance with the Chinese lunar calendar. The latter makes sense, because Phuket is home to a large Taoist Chinese minority, an ethnic group calling themselves Peranakan. They are descendants of Chinese settlers, who believe that abstinence from meat and various stimulants is beneficial to good health, peace, and purity of the mind. The celebrations include performances held to invoke the gods, where white-clad participants act like mediums. These so-called Masong strive to achieve a pure state of being that enables them to connect with their ancestors and demons. When this state of trance is reached, ancestors are able to enter body and soul. Flagellation and auto-mutilation are used to reach this possessed plain of consciousness. These acts of piercing, flagellating and puncturing different body parts with knives, swords and other items simultaneously enhance this state. It may look torturous, but pain is absent due to the trance-like state and the protection of the gods, resulting in little blood or scarring.  
 
This fascination for these unusual rituals didn’t come out of thin air. My music has been deeply influenced by the legendary Coil, whose Peter Christopherson (also of Throbbing Gristle fame) moved to Thailand after Coil co-member Jhonn Balance died in 2004. Peter explored the world of Thai ritualistic culture as The Threshold HouseBoys Choir, releasing Form Grows Rampant, an album based on material collected at GinJae festival, a Nine Emperor Gods variation held in the Thai Krabi region. Unfortunately, Christopherson’s untimely death prevented him from furthering his explorations into the sound and spirit of his new country of residence. The Threshold HouseBoys Choir’s music and videos clearly paved the way for my interest in Thai culture. I delved into the world of Thai ritual practices, reading and watching as many sources as possible, before deciding to take things a step further by visiting the Vegetarian festival myself. This truly emotional and deeply inspirational journey left an indelible impression on me. I sensed something I can only describe as ‘vision almost tangible’, which gave me a very clear view on how the record would materialize. Bizarr signifies a defining step for me as an artist. The whole experience not only taught me a lot about the otherness of Thai culture, but even more so about the peculiarities of Western society - especially the superficiality of solely focusing on material gain."

He swooped aggressively over the village doing his daily inspections, a routine that occurred every day for an hour or so, around half two in the afternoon. Nosediving through the sky, he soared above the village gardens, violently shaking the windows and knocking over all manner of objects with the sheer force of his wings. The sky remained home but down here was his playground.

Following the inaugural release from label boss Sherø, Berlin-based label KlubKid return with their second release; a debut EP from Haute Dance, a project made up of DJ and artist Marina Bibik, DJ Kirill Shapovalov and producer Unfound.
