I wrote this when my older brother moved away last year. 

There’s a spider in my drain board, and I wonder why he stays, ‘cause without anything to bite down on, I’d surely go away 

I wonder if he thinks it’s plain, the comfort of my sweet mundane, and maybe he really does the work to keep the bugs at bay

I wonder if he thinks of me, I wonder if he knows I’m there, and if I’m foolish to think his web looks just like your hair

I wonder if I’ll be sad when he leaves, and when his spindly body’s gone, I hope I will have moved on
