the making of ilanga lase'busuku turned out to be one of my most cherished sessions i had with takatso. well before i tell the story filled with smiles and happiness, one question: the naming of a song should be the easiest part in making music right? nope... not with this one. actually... nothing is ever easy with takatso but anyway. i originally made the beat with a straight forward concept in mind, a weird concept when i now think about it but when i was making the beat, it kinda made sense. you probably wondering, what the hack?? but i specifically made the beat for a person who has to catch a taxi to work, school or home. and am not talking about any other taxi, am talking about a white isiyaya driven by umzulu phaqa with a short temper when you miscounted his money. i made it for the ones who give a 110% in everything they do. whether a 9 to 5, university or college, the chasing your dreams grind or the i have to hustle for my family person, i made it with them in mind. i titled the untitled beat "feel good today" with the intention of listeners could bump to it in the morning and whether they predicting a shity day today, i hoped they would play this jem in the morning and feel good for the rest of the day. takatso and i meet way back in high school, i actually liked his freestyles in rap battles we had but that's just a story another day, and when he pulled through to the studio, i played him the beat and he immediately started pulling up hooks and flows from different verses he wrote on his notepad and we started "knitting" different lyrics together. luna: that's was the name i came up with after recording the song. takatso thought i was making reference on what he said on the chorus said "don't worry babe the moon will take me home" nope. luna was actually the name i gave my dog which passed on around that time. she was two months old before she passed on. sad but takatso and sifiso thought i shouldn't take my sob story and make it the center story of this "beautiful" song. it was actually hard for me to change the title cause i wanted something that could remind me of her. ilanga lase'busuku: this title has so many versions of the same story so if i would tell you my version of it, some would be lies in takatso's eyes. but to some it all up, i couldn't illustrate the vibes that occurred on those sessions with the boy. can't forget sifiso with the hums.

Lungelwa Siphoesihle Mkhize formally known as LUNGĒLWA was born in JHb , raised in soweto for some years and moved to DbN later on developing in her adolescent years around constant movement ,colors, sounds and scenes. A vast influence of township and urban culture as well as the black diaspora helps her pave her own understanding of what the black journey is .
she takes influence and inspiration from south african jazz , folk ,indie , ,native sounds as well as bossa nova ,deep house , new age alternative wave  and delayed alternative rnb in south africa.
lungelwa mostly dabbles in unrefined sound scapes and is sonically evolving her sound.
The development of her craft is only beginning and she'd like to you sit back and enjoy the ride...
