On July 12th Zach Moore was in Brooklyn to play the Vitamin B monthly, which is a fabulous breaks party - the only one of its kind in New York as far as we know. As he has been know to do, Zach recorded all of the DJ sets from the evening. This is the first of those recordings featuring the musical stylings of Vitamin B resident, Tim The Enchanter. Enjoy!

Breakbeat evangelist Tim The Enchanter (Vitamin B, Brooklyn) first discovered electronic music in the warehouses of NYC, Philly, Baltimore and DC in the mid 90's. He bought some crappy 4th-hand turntables and a Radio Shack mixer and hasn’t looked back  (although his gear has improved). After a decade of spinning to a packed bedroom of two cats, Tim made the jump to playing for humans and quickly became a resident at Vitamin B, NYC’s longest-running monthly breaks party. In his spare time he enjoys fiddling with Ableton, building temporary hot tubs and making the tastiest almond milk on the east coast.

What sound captures the mystery and infinite potential of a Thursday night at Burning Man?

The warmth of the sun dissipated and the dusty city had gone electric, so I traded in my upbeat daytime disco sounds for a deeper shadowy sound: "dark funk."  To me, dark funk is syncopated bass lines, pitched-down vocals, and muscular drums… all with enough space to let each polished instrument stand out.

This is my Thursday night set (10:30-11:30PM) on the Sugar Cubes, an instant landmark in their first year on the Esplanade skyline.  Big thanks to Alex & Charles Green, Keegan Olton, Dan Kaminsky, and the rest of the team that brought the Cubes to life this year-- it was an absolute pleasure to play on them.

Since I was kid, I was always skeptical of reality.  I questioned the existence of my parents, family, friends, and matter in general.  One of my earliest memories is sitting in a schoolbus staring outside the window, and generally questioning everything around me.  How could I be so sure that my parents weren't just figments of my imagination, or worse, a computer program designed to raise me.  I always asked everyone around me to prove their existence, to unsatisfactory results.  Lushpod #11 is a philosophical exploration of this question that has plagued my past.  Although I am fairly sure I exist, and I am pretty sure everyone around me exists, how can I really know?  LP11 features tracks from Nico, Ebony Jones, Gardens & Villa, dOP, Wasabi, Lou Reed, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Yves Simon, Adriatique, Rudimental, and Mind Against. This Lushpod is dedicated to all the Victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

A perfect confluence of love and magic.  Food and Libations were shared, new friendships were made.  It was so fantastic we had to miss Lee Burridge's set.  Thank you to all that were there.

Excavating the future of Los Angeles through music, Lushpod 18 examines the city's progression after the Rodney King Riots and OJ Simpson trial in the 1990s.  From the ashes of urban nightmare and disenfranchisement, Los Angeles has emerged in the last two decades as a progressive city inching forward into the abyss.  We look at the new shapes, structures, and architecture that have emerged in the city's skyline.  From its beaches to its hills, we are witnessing the transformation of a magnificent city.  LP18 was recorded live at The Higher Path - LA (14080 Ventura Blvd. Sherman Oaks, CA) LP18 features Noveller, Deniz Kurtel, Apparat, Gusgus, Patrick Topping, The Clash, Joy Wellboy, Vario Volinksi, Ghosts of Venice, and Glimpse.

There's a special place tucked away in the Cambodian jungle only accessible by a make shift raft over a murky river. This is a strangely apocalyptic looking paradise for nocturnal revelers complete with a dilapidated truck DJ booth and rickety gas powered ferris wheel. Some would call it a jungle circus rave, but they call it Kerfuffle and it's a place I will never forget.

My set kicked off at 1:00AM to a crowd that spanned the gamut of jungle dancers. The tracks in this mix were meant to compliment the funky vibe and people. Get ready to bounce. 

This mix was recorded live from the legendary Kerfuffle jungle party in Otres, Cambodia on April 2, 2015.
