First time

Cedar Moon is the first track released from a 3 song EP called “Earth Keepers” produced by Shaman’s Dream, Poranguí and Eric Zang.

The song was a gift to Sahuna from an old growth Cedar Tree under the full moon at his home in Nevada City. When recorded, it was done in one take with Shaman’s Dream on Hang Drum, Poranguí on Ngoni, Eric Zang on Kaval Flute and Beats created by Geometrae.

Cedar Moon reflects the healing energy that comes from opening, listening and allowing spirit to work through us. Trusting in the power of being in the moment and improvising from a place of deep listening.

The Earth Keepers project emerged from a personal inquiry between Poranguí and Sahuna Love (Shaman’s Dream) around what it means to be better stewards of our sacred Earth Mother. At the core of this question came the understanding that we are each bodies comprised of the Earth elements and can only care for Mother Gaia when we cultivate & care for our body in relation to a place.

Guided by the principles of reciprocity and complementarity we are more capable of living in right relation to the elements and all of life. Rooted through the body & inspired from the breath, we dance & sing as an offering to life helping us conduct ourselves through the world and everyday choices with care for this precious planet we call home.

I had made the vocal for this track almost two years and didn’t know what to do with it. It sounds like a bunch of cows participating in a Gregorian chant, and it didn’t fit ANYWHERE. Fast forward to 5 months ago, and I was playing around with the Ableton Push. It’s a brilliant improvisational composition toy, and while trying to understand dancehall riddims… I made the skeleton of the beat. On a whim I added the cow chant to it, listened to it once, and then showed up on Taylor’s doorstep with this weird sketch… but no where to go with it. Taylor, bless his heart, was completely unfazed at how strange everything was and took it to the next level. Outside of Golden Lotus, this song was the fastest one to come together.

After landing my spaceship on the blue planet, I started exploring some fascinating Earthlings and came across a manifold variety of species.

One of the most compelling beings among all are called humans. I was stunned by different cultures, vibes, languages, and musical instruments. I couldn't get enough of soaking in ancient vibes paired with current sounds, and I created the track "Earthlings" to honor this wonderful yet surprisingly destructive species.

It seems to be challenging for an increasing number of humans to live fairness through awareness by thinking things through, despite the fact that there are (and have been) countless humans who have already come up with feasible ideas and possible solutions to solve the predominant problems of food distribution, lack of creativity and misinterpreted balance.
