Following the success of their latest release, "Space Katz", queer rave pop musician Chimp Hardy is back with a fresh twist on the fan-favorite track. With its unforgettable blend of meowing synths, funky basslines, and catchy vocals, "Space Katz" featuring Akinom, has been pawing its way into the hearts of listeners since its debut on Berlin’s FLUX.FM. Now, Chimp is thrilled to announce the release of the much-anticipated "Space Katz" remix EP, set to drop on June 2nd, 2023.

First on deck is LA’s davOmakesbeats, label head of Molly House Records, known for highlighting queer and POC electronic artists. His distinctive ballroom beats have been featured on shows like HBO's “We're Here", Lizzo's “Reality” on Amazon, and as part of Beyonce’s new Renaissance tour. For his remix, davOmakesbeats infuses "Space Katz" with a groovy, soulful vibe, setting a playful tone with Rhodes chords playing over subtle breaks while Chimp and Akinom narrate their cosmic feline adventure. 

Next, Shero, label boss of queer-focused, jackin house label Klubkid Records, takes the track to new depths. A prominent figure in Berlin's queer underground scene, Shero injects pumping, 90s acid house energy into the remix, using a catchy 8-bit bassline and a hypnotic, undulating hoover to put ravers into an eye-rolling trance.

Berlin's own Billy Idle, known for his bootleg Italo, Nu Disco, and high-energy remixes of iconic 80s pop hits, steps in as the third collaborator. Billy's remix reimagines "Space Katz" in a playful world of Yamaha pan flutes, e-pianos, and funky basslines – not surprising given his experience as one of the creatives force behind the infamous Disco Bizarre party at Berlin’s KitKat Klub.

Rounding off the remix EP is Positive Conundrum, the new alias from techno maestro Tim Xavier. His remix transports the space katz to a gritty, atmospheric soundscape, creating a menacing alien sci-fi world. Gritty, distorted vocals cut through twisted, pulsing layers of sound, driving listeners through a wormhole direct into Berlin’s darkest dark room.

“It’s exciting to see how other people interpret your work,” says Chimp. “‘Space Katz’ is a fun and unique track, and I loved seeing how each producer shaped it into their own vision.”

Don't Take Techno Too Seriously!!!

I played a spontaneous live jam for the shooting of an upcoming video in Oslo. Eleven minutes is the actual time it took to make this track. Yes, my live shows sound something like this now – and all elements are played live. You can watch me how I build it up synth by synth. Although you should rather dance. While the video documenting the jam is still in the making, this is a cleaned up version of that live jam (in fact these are just the loops I recorded in that moment, not the live things I did on top). Credit goes out to Gazebo for the basic drum beat. He constructed this in 2 minutes as I asked him about the drum pattern for his 80s debut single "Masterpiece." It is actually intended for a different production, but I got socially pressured to use it for this recording, too. ;-)  I should probably also credit Alexander Robotnick for inspiration, as the bass line sounds somewhat like him - although I recorded it spontaneously out of my head. I have some thirty more jams like this one from the preparations to my Oslo live show that I could probably work into actual tracks. Or I could jam some more.  :-)

I edited this track for my "Billy Idle Reworks The 80s - Vol. 2 - Originals In" radio show (get it from http://www.billyidle.de) but then I noticed it I can make it clubbier by re-organizing the parts (verse/chorus structure is not the thing we care to keep from the 70s/80s) and I also re-did the mix-in using the beats of the song itself. Much better than borrowing a kick drum from elsewhere. Oh, and the track is remastered as usual.

Kamp! is a Polish electronic pop trio formed in 2008 in Lodz, Poland. Their sound is often described as melodic synth-pop influenced by 80's new wave, 70's krautrock and 90's french house genres. But listen for yourself, as genre-dropping doesn't quite do them justice.

"Melt" is another feel good song from the polish trio who are experts in the art of doing catchy melodies and stick to the ear chorus. For remix duties were called Midnight Magic, Xinobi and Zimmer who made diferent aproaches to the song with great results.

"Melt" is their second single for Discotexas, following "Cairo" on 2011, which included a Beatport top ten remix by Moullinex. Kamp! have just released their debut album on their own Brennnessel label.

Like everyone here, I've been deejaying and producing since teenage days. Music is a question of taste, but you can expect some quality things here productionwise - normalized in frequency spectrum and loudness, ready for DJ use.

My tracks are uploaded as hi-fi variable bitrate MP3s. VBR is roughly equivalent to 256 bps. 320 is pointless, as a 44.1kHz/16bit file will mathematically never use more than 256. Funny how everyone on soundcloud seems to think 320 is good. In any case, MP3 will always mean a certain amount of loss, so the only way to avoid that is to use WAV/AIFF/FLAC or RAR. In professional productions you should never employ MP3, no matter how high the bitrate.
