Nicole has returned to Drumcode all guns blazing with her new ‘Bittersweet EP’. The A- side ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’, is a deep rolling techno machine that uses a constant building percussion loop that eventually explodes into some serious funky signature Moudaber techno! ‘Bittersweet’ is a techno belter that uses a hypnotic synth rhythm that will take the listener into another world. The repetitive claps induce a flurry of energy and excitement whilst supported by the crisp highs.

Haunting, ethereal, emotive, propulsive Guy Gerber and Diddy’s long-awaited collaborative album project 11 11 will at last be revealed to the public for free this Summer...Beginning with a preview of their track My Heart.

At once a meeting of two worlds, and yet also a dismissal of those signifiers, 11 11 inverts the recent dialogue between the worlds of hip-hop and electronic music, eschewing simple radio friendly factory fare, for darker, richer, deeper soundscapes. 11 11 is not a project aimed at main-stages and masses, but outliers and after-hours.

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Luigi Madonna returns to Drumcode a year after his superb single ‘Primo’ using familiar hooks, huge stabs and monstrous drums that storm across the dance floor which, are common with Mr Madonna. The hard hitting raw vibe of this EP gives Luigi an edge, with fluttering high’s and saturated lows, Luigi’s tracks are a mainstay in all DJ sets. The EP encompasses different emotions throughout that can be felt within the track ‘Singer One’, offering a more mellow side to Luigi’s already expansive catalogue.

Presented as a three-track EP, Slam’s latest body of work for Drumcode covers a range of styles, drawing on their vast experience of the multi-colored nature of techno. Vespula, with its resolute groove and low, humming bass works the speakers hardest, while synth stabs, dramatic drawn out chords and a distinctive two-tone hook add contrast. Resume puts musicality to the fore by creating a melodic ride that flows from an undulating bass line and a soaring synth line whilst retaining a strong percussive energy. Metus beats out a slow burning but impactful groove that swings between an intricate, multi-layered arrangement of wigged out atmospherics and industrial clunks and clanks. For the first single from a 6-track EP from Montreal's Clarian (who is also one half of Footprintz), the Canadian reached well beyond the border to collaborate with Tel Aviv-born, Madrid-based producer Guy Gerber on "Claire." Gerber has been a major player on Israel's electronic scene since 2006, running his own Supplemental Facts label and infusing traces of minimal techno, tech house, downtempo and deep house in his productions, while remaining singular in his approach. Clarian's vocal contributions were at the heart of Gerber's progressive house-leaning Fabric mix from last year, which joined the likes of Ricardo Villalobos and Omar-S of artists that turned in single-artist mixes to the series. "Claire" starts amid a queasy vocal snippet (with Clarian's French whisper lodged in at the midpoint) and threatens to go darker and deeper. But a steady handclap and glimmering melodic line uplifts and casts light across this seven-minute track.

When Mauro Picotto&#8217;s enormous New Time New Place landed in 2003, it came as one of the pioneering Italian techno producer&#8217;s most stunning tracks yet. 10 years on and it still sounds incredibly fresh and unlike any other track, fizzing with rampant synth energy, thumping beats and delightfully warped, ultra-melodic riffs. It&#8217;s lost none of its charisma or power over time, and still does the damage on a contemporary dancefloor. Great Stuff are bringing back this classic for a new generation, along with three immense remixes.

Dosem comes fresh from big releases for the likes of Intec Digital armed with an absolutely killer groove, laden with chugging sub bass and bouncy percussion. He teases the original&#8217;s soaring chord progression in and out of focus, making for a tensely contrasted version.

Holland&#8217;s Egbert goes heavy on the cowbell and makes the most out of the original&#8217;s manifold refrains, extracting the maximum energy from the sounds therein and fusing them to a funk-fuelled groove that fans of Joris Voorn will likely appreciate. His remix builds pleasingly, utilising the original&#8217;s parts in gradual fashion to reach a fever pitch.

Gary Beck has other ideas, however. He loops the riffs into submission, slowly building a steamroller of a groove that&#8217;s got pace and lots of classic techno weight. The cymbal rides are tough, the bass is murky and dark, and it&#8217;s one for those who likes things tough and heads-down.

Why are the vocals turned down so low? This is the way we make Techno!

To mark the label’s 50th release Marc Houle gets right back to basics with two raw, stripped down future classics. What’s more both vinyl cuts, “Techno Vocals” and “On It” clock in at under six minutes meaning that this compact 12inch’s sound and message is going to be coming through extra loud and clear.

On “Techno Vocals” (as with all Houle productions) each sound is perfectly realised, commanding its own space with metronomic discipline. The rigid drum patterns, analogue explosions, regimented snare rolls, laser guided effects and delayed bleeps interact with supreme efficiency, while the arrangement is mapped out with cool, calculated intent. The result is a totally robust example of A-grade techno that’s really brought to life by the self-referential, pitched down vocal hook!

It’s well documented that Marc has more than a passing interest in 80’s electro, New Wave and retro computer games and these influences are somehow more apparent on Minus 50 than on his earlier solo releases or as part of Run, Stop, Restore. “On It” in particular will turn a few heads, making, as it does, a detour into previously unexplored territory. Revolving around a heavily filtered melodic bass riff, Houle punctuates the dry, upfront groove with a choice selection of rough, old school samples before dropping into a series of moody bass variations that give the track its distinctive flavour.

To complete the release, dub and accapella versions of “Techno Vocals” are also available as digital downloads offering amongst other things the chance to reformat the vocals over the original beats.
