Zenith (feat. Joey Bada$$)

This piece represents an attempt at making "dance" music as opposed to the whacky art stuff that I've been making that draws on dance music. Initially I wanted to make a deep house song, so I slowed my metro to 105 BPM and made the first few grooves. Not quite what I had initially had in mind but okay, I liked it. I wanted another section and noticed the BPM, so I made a bounce groove. Things took a turn in a different direction when I started chopping up this poem and plugging in reconfigured pieces into the song, and then the rest was the "magic" of it happening. Overall I am very pleased with this. Not quite the dance anthem it could have been, but the I think the words make it catchier and give it some tangible meaning which makes it more relatable.

Power Outage

Leaving behind the noise-pop of his former project Dead Gaze, Low Variety finds Cole Furlow diving deep within himself, creating ambient music with a melodic touch. 

“Recognize and Release” is a mix of pulsing acoustic and electric guitars driven by keyboards and fizzing synths. It’s a song filled with the necessity of creation, the healing that comes from making something beautiful all your own.
