Nova has always been passionate about music. Enchanted from an early age by singing and playing piano, she was part of several musical groups with very varied repertoires, ranging from classical gospel, to acapella to rock. Subsequently, she developed a keen interest in electronic music, which allowed her to explore all the nuances and subtleties of sound. Her years of experience as a singer and pianist have given her the tools to create melodies rich in harmony and depth. It is through hypnotic rhythms and mesmerizing melodies that she makes us feel a range of emotions and making the experience unforgettable. As a result of her passion and hard work, Nova quickly made a name for herself on the Montreal underground music scene. She was noticed by several music events collective including Dome of Faith, Front Rite, Hidden Garden, Say no more, Monkey Buzinezz, Dark night, FKM, who invited her to take part in their events in renowned places in Montreal including Salon Daomé, Newspeak, Theatre Fairmount, NewHaus, Club pelicano and at festivals (Atmos, Eclipse, Origine). In early 2020, she shared the stage with an international artist Miss Monique. Since, she is determined to make people dance through her sounds.

Nova est une passionnée de musique depuis toujours. Envoutée dès son plus jeune âge par le chant et le piano, elle a fait partie de plusieurs groupes musicaux avec des répertoires très variés, allant du gospel classique, au acapella et rock. Par la suite elle développe un intérêt marqué pour la musique électronique ou elle peut explorer à l’infini les nuances et les subtilités sonores. Son expérience musicale lui apporte un atout considérable à l’élaboration d’arrangement musicaux des plus harmonieux, donnant ainsi une grande profondeur. C’est par des rythmes hypnotiques et des mélodies envoûtantes qu’elle nous fait ressentir une gamme d’émotions rendant ainsi l’expérience inoubliable. Telle une passionnée acharnée, elle se taille vite une place sur la scène musicale underground de Montréal. Nova s’est fait remarquer par plusieurs collectifs dont Dome of Faith, Front Rite, Hidden Garden, Say no more, Monkey Buzinezz, Sanctuary, Dark night, FKM, qui l'ont invitée à leurs événements dans des endroits renommés de Montréal dont le Salon Daomé, Newspeak, Théâtre Fairmount, NewHaus, Club Pelicano et des festivals (Atmos, Éclipse, Origine). Au début de l’année 2020, elle a partagé la scène avec une artiste internationale Miss Monique. Depuis, elle est déterminée à faire vibrer les gens en transmettant sa passion.

BACKGROUND Hegstraction grew up in the 80s & 90s heavily influenced by the emergent electronic music in Amiga, Nintendo & PlayStation video games & the movie soundtracks by electronic music pioneers Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis & Kraftwerk. Recent influences from German techno DJ/producers Felix Krocher & Stephan Bodzin.

INSPIRATION His inspiration differs from most artists as it comes from the dance floor where he is most at home. From over 20 years experiencing DJ sets worldwide throughout Europe, Asia, South & North America, his ideas have been shaped.

METHODOLOGY He approaches each track as a mini set, building up slowly, using level changes, sounds that stimulate & energize, following Skeletalism (using closely related sounds) & Massification (layering sounds over time) methods.
