This little piece was composed for my Modal Composition class at Humber. We had to choose a mode to write within...I chose the F dorian mode, and because Josh my son was at the time playing Bach's Gavotte in C minor, it was in my head. So here's a little Bach-a-la-Dorian! 

It's scored for 2 flutes, piano, electric keyboard, bass, percussion, 2 violins & cello.

Here's a little harmonic exploration, centered around the feelings of fall -- thanksgiving, reflection, a quieting down of sorts, and the pull homeward.

This year's Christmas contemplation...Christmas morning!  There's so much anticipation for it, which is really a deeper anticipation for Christ, who breaks our darkness and brings light. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning!"
