Our aim is to bring to your attention some of the exceptional music that crosses our desks but which the corporate money grabbers felt "didn't tick the right box".

Freya is a flute, whistle and clarinet player based around the Scottish Borders and the North East of England. She graduated in 2013 with a 1st in performance from Newcastle's Folk and Traditional music degree and now performs in various groups, teaches private instrumental lessons and works as a performer and workshop leader for Live Music
Now. 

She and Louis Bingham have just released their first album Curlicue through Waulk Records. The album incorporates many of the musical styles and influences that have shaped their playing, mainly focusing on traditional music from Ireland, Brittany and many of their own compositions. 

Freya plays a Miyazawa Boehm system silver flute, a Michael Burke D whistle and a Buffet E13 Clarinet.

Chris Meredith and the Watchtone include, Graeme Armstrong on Guitar, Mercedes Philips with Saxophone and Chris Meredith on fiddle. They have been playing together for just over a year and have already released their debut album, 'Sevens'. 

As three very intuitive and well seasoned session musicians, their music is lyrical and energetic with an air of spontaneity. Like much of their instrumental material, Watchtone's songs are a mixture of modern and traditional material, taking influence from jazz, folk and pop. Their arrangements are part of a new style of folk music developing and are tantalising audiences around the world.
