I don’t typically like to go backwards with my records, as they were meant for a particular place and time, but times have changed because of all the global pandemic... so I said why not. I’m actually happier with this new mix than the original I did 15 years ago. I tried to give the track a funkier, house feel. Maceo Plex & AVNU have teamed up for 'Clickbait (This Ain't Hollywood)', the standout new single from Maceo Plex’s forthcoming album. 

Maceo Plex continues to be one of electronic music's most recognisable names. He has fomented his own uniquely interplanetary take on forward-thinking, melodic techno and deep house whilst being the driving force behind Lone Romantic and Ellum Audio. As a DJ, he continues to headline the world’s leading festivals and clubs year in, year out. AVNU is one of Maceo Plex’s most hotly-tipped new acts of recent years, based on the East Coast of Scotland. Last May, he served up his adventurous album ‘Tough To Love But Worth The Effort’ on Ellum, which was the product of two decades immersed in all genres of music and was a storytelling mix of house, electro, synth, techno and pop. 

The superb 'Clickbait (This Ain't Hollywood)' channels Daft Punk into a contemporary slice of robot techno funk. It's a monster of a track that builds on irresistibly slinky drums with widescreen synths and a chugging bassline that sweeps you up, up, and away to the stars. The topical lyrics aim to highlight the disparities between social media influencer lifestyles and the realities of everyday life in mainstream Hollywood and modern-day society in general.

„I just wanna feel your sweat on my body“ - Miami-based Nala paints erotic pictures on the brute bass beat of Catz ’n Dogz in „Me Me Me“. Hushes, moans and a dark and sultry energy fill the room, melting everyone into one entity of skin and leather that moves in unison.
„Hot Mess“, ups the tempo but keeps the lights low, with flashes of strobe freezing images of bizarre faces in darkest corners of the club, while the priestess Nala speaks her truth in ceremony.
A record like a ritual, it awakens animalistic spirits that we give in to when we find ourselves without thoughts on the dance floor.

Deep groove purveyor and Toronto mainstay Tyler Hill lands on Ellum Audio with a new pair of tracks that come with a remix by label regular AVNU.

Tyler Hill is an artist who dips into many musical influences, from funk to European electronica to synth-infused 80s magical via hip hop and electronica. He plays all around Toronto's key venues, is one half of DJ duo +ONE and hosts a residency at Wiggle Room, which is also the name of the label he recently launched with his long-time friend and manager, Takin Nateghi.

Opener ‘Smooth' is a heavy and thumping track that drips with sweat and sleazy vocals. The bass rumbles down low, and the raw percussion adds extra menace to this assured dance floor workout. AVNU is one of Maceo Plex’s most hotly-tipped acts of recent years. He is based on the East Coast of Scotland and dropped his superbly adventurous album ‘Tough To Love But Worth The Effort’ here in May 2022 and then followed it up with a collaboration with Maceo on 'Clickbait (This Ain't Hollywood)' back in July. His remix is explosive, with serrated synths flashing about the mix and distorted bass bringing extra darkness to the original. The superb 'Move' is another solid house sound with a wonky low end and swaying drums that swing low. Rising synths keep things moving while dub-wise vocals layer some Afro influence to this most characterful of tracks.

Tyler Hill again shows why he is such a hot property in house music with this latest offering.

Change This Pain’ (Azzecca remix) has a hard act to follow in the original, Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune in May and a summer anthem with some 90s DNA. Azzecca has brought her own very different dark energy to the ‘absolutely perfect track’ with a more ‘stripped back techno vibe’ which is already shaping to be a winter monster in its own right. A rampaging, thundering beat, harsh dystopian discords and sirens – the remix still showcases the raunchy female vocal but riffs on the title lines, ending an extended breakdown with an epic drop just to take ravers over any edge that’s left.
