Straight from Northern Italy, Alessio Meneghello or better known for his moniker Alan Backdrop, has been alluring his listeners through his productions characterized with deep atmospheres and a mixture of different genres. Simply put, Alan’s fascination is a reflection of his passion for electronic music and inspiration he gets from the world around.
He is the kind of producer that certainly enjoys his studio jam sessions—this is the reason why he spends most of the time in his studio tweaking knobs on synthesizers, recording and experimenting with the aim to capture and create his exceptional sound.
Alan Backdrop released his debut album, VR Plan, in 2013 on Prologue, an album that includes some of his pioneering tracks, such as “Cherber,” “Medel,” and “Siere.” Shortly, he managed to create his second album, Eria, released in 2014 on Ekar Records, label and platform with which he has a long-lasting relationship and where he released a big part of his discography. He recently joined Mental Modern and Semantica Records where he kicked out some 12".
Alessio's side project is a_000, born from the unprompted come across of him and Enrico Rlt, which resulted in the creation of "Road to Nauta", the very first wax from Ekar Records and "Ness Reworks 001", a 12" containing two original tracks plus two remixes from the label founder and friend Ness.
In addition to spending most of the time in his studio, Alan Backdrop performs in various festivals—the latest in which he performed were Modem Festival and Parallel— and in different clubs and musical events. Fascinated by electronic music and concentrated in the realization of atmospheric musical journeys is the best way to describe Alan Backdrop.

Scøpe is a Korean techno producer and DJ, runs a SCOPÁVIK podcast and he is holding a regular party called SCOPÁVIK in Vurt Club. In 2018, Scøpe started running SCOPÁVIK record label. Since his debut EP in 2014, he has been constantly showing his own sizzling and layered sounds from his every released EPs and remixes from artists such a Svreca, Refracted, Acronym among others. Recently, Scøpe has released his new EP, "Lure" which includes a remix by Anthony Linell.

Juan Tellez  :: 7 quick lockdown questions

1. Action, Drama, Romance or Documentary movie? 
I’m generally a big fan of non-English film that challenges one’s sense of reality or perspective. That said, I’ve been watching a number of documentaries recently on Indigenous Australian issues that have been massively educational for this white New Zealander. In that vein, I recommend: Gurrumul; The Final Quarter; Westwind: Djalu’s Legacy; and, Murundak: Songs of Freedom.    

2. Coffee, Tea or Alcohol? 
Coffee: Long Black generally in the morning.
Tea: Most teas and constantly consumed through the day.
Alcohol: Red Wine (Pinot Noir especially), Espresso Martini, Vodka/Lime/Soda
Special shout out goes to my soulmate beverage Club Mate X

3. Sleep in or get up early 
As a night owl, it’s a sleep-in without question.

4. Favourite Sunday afternoon listening album

5. What art movement describes you the best?
My Father was an artist influenced by Cubism and Surrealism and while I resonate with both of those movements, I’d have to say that it’s an artist that best represents myself and that is Hieronymus Bosch. My brain is very much ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ haha! 

6. Opera, Country, Folk or Black Death Metal
I’d tend towards Folk/Black Death Metal. Very much looking forward to seeing Chelsea Wolfe and Emma Ruth Rundle live once the pandemic settles down!  

7. Tell us something no one knows about you?
For digital music listening through my computer, I prefer using foobar2000 to VLC

Hello and welcome back to The Poeticast, a podcast series covering a vast range of Electronica, showcasing new and established artists from one corner of planet earth to the other. This week we are joined San Francisco based artist Prception for Episode 250.

He's interested in communicating feelings to his audience in a way that goes beyond perceptual bias such as musical preconceptions and cultural straightjacket. Growing up in Lyon, France, he's about to move to Berlin after 6 years in San Francisco. He's the co-founder of Demure Circle (@demurecircle), a music and art collective that organized events in San Francisco before the pandemic, and now hosts a dub and techno podcast series.
