Austrian Mefjus adds his own high-energy twist to ‘No More Vaccine’ whilst Sarajevo’s finest Billain gives ‘Amber’s Love Was Like A Marble’ the full neuro treatment. In addition, Rawtekk supply a Neuropop VIP remix of their own 2011 Youtube hit ‘Snowflakes’, which featured on Med School’s “New Blood 011″ compilation and has racked up over 350,000 views.

Well it’s been a long time coming but finally Critical label boss and all-round entertainer Kasra has put hand to mixing desk and delivered his first full 12” release on the imprint since it began back in 2002. Not only that but he’s done it with one of the most prolific and hot property names in the scene right now, Brazilian born S.P.Y. The result as you’d expect is pure D&B thunder! ‘Surface’ rolls out seriously from the off with a snapping two-step break accompanied by paranoid pads that drift throughout the mix as an unnerving vox drops us suddenly into this no-nonsense Friday night king of the rollers. Torpedo bass stabs rule as it marches along with full force to a deep, intense breakdown that signals the second drop into a more twisted incarnation of the b-line before. Dangerous, cavernous drum & bass from two people with their fingers firmly on the pulse. Moving on and ‘Control’ is a menace from the start with a drawn out intro that sets us up perfectly for the incoming onslaught. A heavily syncopated break leads the way much like a slice of classic Photek brought smack up to date for 2011, whilst undulating bass hits make sure this one never lets go, kicking and scrapping right to the very end. Yes, it really has been fifteen years since Future Tech (aka Drumsound & Bassline Smith) signalled the beginning of the Technique Recordings odyssey with their eponymous debut collaboration. Since then, the drum and bass sound has spread its tendrils from the dark corners of the underground into the limelight of mainstream appreciation. And Technique has been at the forefront of that evolution all the way. So, here's an LP to show the world exactly what a decade and a half among the top tier of D&B labels sounds like.

Label heads Drumsound & Bassline Smith take pole position, dropping straight into the drama of the Friction-supported “Spring Heel Jack”. Then comes another of Technique's most recognisable acts, Tantrum Desire with the low-down funk of “Shuffle”, followed by another Friction-favourite from the bossmen with “Sputnik”. The big names keep coming throughout the album, as Crissy Criss supplies the VIP of his monumental “Create the Future” and the mighty Digital goes dubbed-out with a remix of “Phantasm”. Plus Drumsound & Bassline Smith's alter-ego 2DB pass through with the highly-grimey “Terrahawk” and L Plus delivers two precision-engineered killers in the form of “Red Planet” and “Going Down”.

Flipping the script, Technique new boys Document One strike from two angles with the laid-back “Jazz Club” and the dirty dancefloor uppercut of “Body Like Wow”. TREi takes us to the big room with “Here & Now”, and the ever-individual MaxNRG shows off his ability to combine energy with melody on “Far Frontiers of Space”. Erb N Dub and Skope recruit Mr Dirty Smirks, MC SMK himself, to bring some typically hard bars to “Pull it Back”. Kronology does what it says on the tin with some “Razor Sharp” technoid-jungle vibes. And Aussie badman Spectrem brings some hands-in-the-air euphoria with “Say Goodbye” and then roughen things up with “The Future”. Infrasonik take the honour of completing the collection with “Bricks Breaking”. It's been clear for a while now that Tantrum Desire's name on a track makes it a download-on-sight proposition for discerning selectors. Now, back on his home turf of Technique Recordings, it's time to see what he's got for us next.

Up first is “Unleashed”. Discordant orchestral swirls and an incisive blade of bass surround us with shadows. But, then, a rolling, evolving drum pattern shows us the light at the end of tunnel, building to an elephantine drop. TD smacks us with an insistent pulse of low-end and aggressively stark beats. This is militant music aimed straight at the dancefloor, reconfiguring elements of jump up to maximise the hype levels. But, make no mistake, the weight in the bassline, the punch of the drums, and the clinically lethal production make this, above all, a Tantrum Desire tune.

“Twerk It” has a hint of that tension-building darkness in the intro, but Tantrum Desire has much more to show us. As chords and bass rise and fall, morphing between keys and moods, leading us to one of TD's signature huge builds, the tune becomes epically cinematic. And that's before it's even dropped. Then raw savagery of the bassline cuts through the atmosphere with ninja precision, and things get even more hectic from there. Some wickedly slick modulations and kidney-punch drums make this an essential weapon of dance destruction.

Tantrum Desire's got this down to a science. His tunes are consistently at the business end of the download charts because they consistently connect with ravers. And, judging by this release, that's not likely to change any time soon.
