Nineteen years ago a Samurai, a Limey, a Mutt and a Cyborg oddly enough decided to make music together. Sadly, after a decade of alien conspiracies, tragic loss of expensive bread and living the lavish life of sleeping in parking lots, one by one they drifted away from what brought them together and they disbanded. 

With the dark days beneath their Zamboni wheels, they have decided to once again to join one another on stage. It will be the first time Grade has performed in the US in eleven years and will feature their 7th drummer, a man with missing fingers and the uncanny ability to know the songs better than the original four that wrote them.

For those of you who do not know Grade you are better off buying Slayer and Pixies records but those of you who need a good dose of nostalgia, they are ready to deliver their schizophrenic brand of horrible melodic hardcore.

Music has always been a vessel for healing, escape, and connection for Perth-born songwriter Grace Woodroofe. Her early career revealed a striking voice of both vulnerability and strength. Discovered and supported by the late Heath Ledger, she was introduced to Ben Harper, who produced her debut album Always Want. The record reached #3 on the Australian iTunes Album Chart, earned her recognition as a Rolling Stone “Artist To Watch,” and was praised by NPR, KCRW, and The New York Times. Her powerful live presence has taken her to SXSW, CMJ, Bluesfest, and tours with alt-j, Glass Animals, Matt Corby, and Jack Johnson.

In 2015, she reinvented herself as R.W. Grace with the electronic-leaning EP Love It Need It Miss It Want It, before her output slowed as she endured an emotionally abusive relationship that left her disconnected from her craft. Years of reflection and recovery have since led to a creative resurgence and a return to releasing music under her own name.

Now, more than a decade after her debut, Woodroofe returns with new music, co-written with Matt Corby, Dustin Tebbutt, Lachlan Bostock, and Xavier Dunn, and produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy). Unflinching in its honesty, the album traces the complexities of love, dependency, and survival through expansive soundscapes and stark intimacy. With her raw emotional intensity, Woodroofe continues to evolve as an artist whose work empowers both herself and her audience.
