Kellerkind - Your Love (Original Mix)

More exquisite heat from one of the most consistent producers out there. Mihai Popoviciu has been racking up an enviable discography in the past few years, as releases on Highgrade, Hudd Trax, Bondage Music and Popcorn Records testify. 

This, his latest outing on home-from-home Poker Flat, suggests we may yet have the best to come. 'Time' is a low-slung slice of electronic funk, featuring a dirty bass line and lazy, growling synth skirmishes. The feeling is tech-y, underground and analog - a perfect vibe for the Romanian's killer grooves. 

'Stay' drops a gear and cruises into even deeper territory. The melodies entwine to build a lush deep house groove, punctuated by a wonky lead and punchy, insistent drums. Popoviciu manages to hold plenty back, before unleashing a fierce drop.

'Paper Box' maintains the stripped-down sound design, leaving plenty of space for Popoviciu's signature synth squiggles, stabs and fragments of melody. The result is a slick, grooving piece of futurist dance music. 

Beatport customers also get an exclusive additional track- the highly charged, deeply narcotic 'Turn'. Dropped at the right moment, this is going to destroy a few late night parties like nothing else.

Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant is a figure in techno history that needs little introduction. As a member of the Sandwell District collective and the label's art director he collaborated on works that were responsible for a global focal shift in the genre as their label adapted and challenged the paradigm of minimal techno, taking influence from other sources such as dub, post-punk, and even classical minimalism.

But Mendez's relationship with music goes back much further than these seminal releases. With In Memoriam, Silent Servant's latest release on Tresor Records, Mendez writes a deeply personal memoir of a 30-plus year career spent exploring and absorbing the shadowy side of music; a carefully crafted elegy to people, places, and times past and the lasting effect they have on the present.

Across the four tracks, Mendez pays tribute to the earliest Detroit techno and electro, the Belgian EBM movement and the wave music that followed, the monumental dub techno sound from Berlin, and the harder, abrasive sound of the UK at the turn of the last millennium; exploring and referencing the genres that informed his later work. Each track name gives a hint to the timeframe he is revisiting and re-contextualising as the E.P. repurposes the styles that exerted an influence on him.

This E.P. represents a pure distillation of Mendez's memories whilst also cementing his place in the current and future sound of 21st century techno; aware of where we came from but focused on where we are heading.

'Linear Radiance' gathers together 4 extremely hot artists in the scene for one special 12'. The EP begins with 'Raizel' by the hot newcomer Grush. This early set builder is smooth in the constraint it has rolling along in the sweet spot. A beautiful jaunt that is rich and fluid. Next, is the amazing Philipp Priebe. 'So Glad' is another Priebe heater. A very talented producer, you can always count on him for great dancefloor business. The melody sneaks up on you as it builds from deep within. A sublime and subdued corker! 'Sonic Shadows' starts out on the B-side from skillful Nicolas Barnes. His contribution is a combination of a big club techno sound and a melodic flow that is almost reminiscent of some prime late 1990's progressive house. Finally, is 'Grey Rythem' by Cirkel Square. Riding a catchy micro dub sound that is clever, fun, and surprisingly deeper than we could have ever hoped! All four tracks make for a healthy, well-balanced piece of wax! Linear Radiance is lovingly pressed and shared on crystal clear 180-gram vinyl. Act quick while copies are in stock. This compilation is sure to get picked up by DJs, collectors, and fans.

Following their 5th anniversary, the Berlin-based event series Art Bei Ton is kicking off its label with a first VA release ‘Approaching The Illusion’ featuring 7 tracks from Ambient to Hypnotic and Deep Techno.

The goal is to promote diverse international artists involved with our community and curate a sound reflecting different sides of our scene.

Opening the VA with a dark and ritualistic Ambient track composed by the Sardinian artist TVS, the journey follows a shamanic path by touching some euclidean rhythmics with the downtempo beat from our Art Bei Ton resident Mown.

Approaching a hypnotic dimension with Laima Adelaide’s unique atmospheric production, the VA follows up with a psychedelic tune from the Leipzig-based artist Vanta.

The collaboration between Feph and Mr. Tron offers another aspect of the hypnotic sound, with some more driving and uplifting vibes.

Wrapping up this first release, the Berlin-based artist Andrea Cossu brings us to an unusually long and trippy journey through some mental whispering voices. The Indian producer Synister (IN) takes the listener into a dark and dystopian momentum through a powerful Deep Techno groove.

Alek S offers up another dose of pensive techno vibes in his "Paradise Lost” EP. Side A opens up with “Bold”, a slice of laid back while still pounding techno, boasting zippy synths with an unmistakable analog flavour. It’s closely followed by Andres Zacco’s rework of “Honey Wheat”, an apt reconstruction of the original that’s aimed squarely at the dancefloor. The Argentinian producer and recent Ilian Tape alumni dives in with a powerful groove, cutting its way through a suspended atmosphere full of spaced out sounds.

Over on the B-side we’re greeted with “Paradise Lost”, a slow-paced
melody that gradually shifts into a dreamy groove filled with spaced out drums and abstract delays. Last but not least, the original version of “Honey Wheat” is a somewhat atmospheric, yet functional floor warmerm that fits a resigned groove.
