In the second edition of our radio show 'The Endless Tape Machine', we look at the exceptional artist Airto Moreira, a genius on drums, percussion and his 120 other instruments. 

We mainly highlight the creative phase of the 70s with music by the following artists and bands:   
Antonio Carlos Jobim, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Steve Kuhn, Astrud Gilberto, Deodato, Chick Corea, Santana, Gato Barbieri, George Duke, Miroslav Vitous, Hermeto Pascoal, Al Di Meola, as well as pieces of his solo works and his wife Flora Purim. The sequence of songs is in chronological order.

The Endless Tape Machine #3 - Hot Barbecue

This edition is dedicated to the island of Jamaica and the music played there from 1965 to 1975. When the island was hit by an enormous heat wave at the end of the 60s, legend has it that the fast ska beat developed into a more slow-going sound - rocksteady. What we all associate with the style reggae was to follow a little later. In this issue we play almost exclusively tunes from the defining sound systems and labels of this period - Prince Buster, Studio One / Coxsone & Treasure Isle.

The Endless Tape Machine #4 - Jamaica

This episode takes us to Latin America to the popular sound of cumbia. The traditional folk dance draws its origins from African rhythms that were established by colonial slaves in Colombia, later mixed with indigenous and Spanish elements from there and spread further. Our show travels from 1954 to 2019 through Colombia, Peru & Panama where this music is still popular today. Mainly represented, the label 'Discos Fuentes' the powerhouse of Colombian music, still highly sought after by record collectors today. Plus the legendary groups Los Mirlos & Los Destellos from Peru along with sunny highlights from Panama.

The Endless Tape Machine #5 - Cumbia Mi Amor

First time on NACHTIs Ambient Stage, but certainly not the first time on stage, LINO REX has played herself into the memories of their primarily laying listeners with dubby tunes and thus created a rhythmic, lulling feel-good atmosphere on late Saturday afternoon. @linol_music has the talent to take her listeners on a journey between percussions and bass, on a dubby trip that can be constructed even after a month again within your own four walls. The three hours are now available for all to hear (and feel) on our SoundCloud. As always, you can find the link in our bio and as a direct link in the stories. Pingipung Podcast #160 is online and we are happy to have Infuso Giallo aka Philipp Carbotta on board. The Berlin resident runs the label Kame House, designs graphics, produces and plays leftfield electronic music. His output presents an intersection of these activities – self-released, self-designed and self-produced.

Philipp on his mix: "I got the idea for the mix when I received a letter from the Magdeburg police because I was speeding in a 100kmh zone. So in order to redeem myself, I strictly adhered to the speed limit in this mix, while traveling through a very diverse musical landscape. I hope that this will make the fine notice obsolete. All gas – no brakes!"
