As the musician Mathew Halsall was unable to find a suitable label for his releases, he founded his own music label 'Gondwana Records' in Manchester in 2008. The label is now regarded as the nucleus of the young jazz scene in Manchester and is home to musicians from the UK, Belgium, Poland, USA, Australia and Scandinavia, among others. This results in an exciting contemporary spectrum of spiritual meditative jazz, neo-classical and ambient-electronic crossover. We introduce you to some of the label's artists and projects: Chip Wickam, GoGo Penguin, Mammal Hands, Paradise Cinema, Sunda Arc, Hania Rani, ...
