Deus Ex Machina is an arresting sonic and theatrical experience of man’s perennial struggle between fate and free will. Charged with both pathos and ethos, the song is a musical revisitation of classical literature’s greatest tragedy – the story of Oedipus Rex.

"Deus Ex Machina" tells the story of King Oedipus of Thebes, who despite all his efforts, ends up fulfilling the prophecy he was trying so hard to avoid: that he would kill his father and marry his mother.

Inspired by the sonnets of Shakespeare and the lyrical poetry of Ancient Greece, the lyrics tells the story of Oedipus Rex – a play by Sophocles written over two thousand years ago. The song is chanted and recited over the music much like in the chorus in Greek tragedy.

Released worldwide on September 18, 2020, "DEUS EX MACHINA" is the third single of The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara. The track forms part of the independently produced album ‘Full Spectrum'.

From the land of the ice and snow (as the great Zeppelin put it) Mad Nona, a new addition to the rock and roll scene was formed late 2019 by Arnar Fridriksson and Thor Fitzgerald. Although we are a group of dads whom some think are wasting their time truthfully, we have never felt more alive. Therefore, During Covid19, whilst that goddamn virus pandemic was causing lock-downs, jeopardizing people's health and threatening lives, we stayed home at Fitzgerald's place, bounced some old riff ideas of each other, wrote new ones and slowly progressed our style. The pair then reached out to drummer Kristjan B. Heidarsson (Pearl & Paiste artist), after having his name repeatedly being brought up to their attention. In order to complete the lineup our path led us to bassist Thorbjørn Gisli and guitarist Larus Magnusson. Thorbjørn better known as Tobbi is our missing punk ingredient and the only one of us who has busked in Europe during his escape from Iceland. Larus is Mad Nona's latest addition and was lured in by Thor's charisma as they are old pals. He is a massive rock'n'roll soul with a smile that melts. Heavily influenced by the infamous Seattle sound, the tasty riffs of blues-rock and metal we never in a million years thought this mix could work so well together. So, powered by aggressive riffs, energetic vocals and powerhouse drum style alongside with our envisioned sound which takes you for a ride, and words in which many can relate to, we introduce Mad Nona.
