Late January will see Max Chapman deliver his debut L.P via Kerri Chandler’s MadTech Records, titled ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and comprising ten original tracks from the UK artist.

Max Chapman has come a long way since his debut release was picked up by Pete Tong on Radio 1 in 2011, since then he’s gone on to cement himself as a driving force in the UK’s contemporary house output. Releasing material via the likes of Lost Records, Lower East and of course MadTech where his debut long player drops here, also his very own Resonance Records imprint which has continued to grow in strength over its active three years. With his first L.P on the way, remixes and original material for Hot Creations, Knee Deep In Sound, Non Stop and Snatch, plus a U.S tour penciled it’s evident that 2016 is going to be a big year for Max.

Here though we see Chapman mark a milestone in his career with the release of his inaugural album entitled ‘Catch Me If You Can’, and across the project Max explores an array of styles and modern takes on electronic music. From the off-kilter, bass driven experimentalism of ‘Intro’ and ‘I’m Going Deeper’, through to brooding melodious compositions such as title track ‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘Halloween’ and ‘Sophisticated’.

There’s also some of Chapman’s more signature sound in the project with raw, low-slung house cuts like ‘Move Your Body’, the smooth ‘Resistance’ alongside Pleiades and the robust feel of ‘The Red Room’. All in all Chapman manages to deliver a coherent yet transient long player with the project, filled with dance floor focused tracks and more exploratory works throughout.

On September 2nd Techno mainstays Pig&Dan are set to release a special EP entitled ‘Modular Baptism (Remixes)’ via their own imprint, ELEVATE, which will soon celebrate its milestone 50th release.

This exclusive remix package features four stunning reworks of ‘Growler’ and ‘The Saint (Job San)’, the lead tracks taken from the duo’s acclaimed fourth album, ‘Modular Baptism’ which was released earlier this year. 

‘Modular Baptism’ was a record that further solidified Pig&Dan’s status as one of the most exciting Techno acts in the business, with the album claiming the #1 spot on Beatport and singles such as ‘Growler’ reaching the top spot in Beatport’s Techno chart and #2 overall.

Kicking off proceedings are two alluring reinterpretation of the duo’s aforementioned banger ‘Growler’. The first comes from Spanish DJ/producer Alberto Ruiz, who fuses the original’s deep resounding synth-riff with warped industrial sounding effects, and the second from rising London-based Brazilian-born talent Vinicius Honorio, who ventures down an even darker route with fierce distorted synths crashing against the more melodic moments of the track to great effect.

Following on are two excellent re-rubs of ‘The Saint (Job San)’. The first comes from revered NY based DJ/producer Boris, who turns the melodic masterpiece into a sharp, dark Techno roller featuring a relentless array of synth stabs. The second remix comes from French-born Geneva-based underground king Lee Van Dowski, who provides a euphoric sounding framework by bringing the original’s piano chords to the front of the mix and introducing squelching synths towards the end of the 8-minute number to further fuel the climatic finish.

‘Modular Baptism (Remixes)’ is available exclusively via Beatport on September 2nd and everywhere else two weeks later.

Ivan Latyshev (@ivanlatyshev) is a record producer and DJ with more than 10-years experience, having grown up in Russia’s cultural epicentre of St Petersburg. Developing a love for deep house, the young producer has been releasing his perfectly- realised club tunes on labels such as Toolroom, and now provides us with a second outing on Dessous Recordings. The Art of Flying EP presents two original tracks and a pair of remixes of the lead cut. 

The original 'Art of Flying' is quite a statement - a jazzy, swingy beat introduces the track, before solidifying around punchy 4 / 4 groove. Restless synths drift in and out resulting in a track that is both exceptionally funky and deeply wonkytopped off with a killer spoken word vocal.

The ever-dependable Eddie Fowlkes steps up on remix duties and supplies a more jacking interpretation, adding a filthy bassline on his Fly Mix.

The same track also gets a 'Crazy Dub' rework which expands the space within the track and strips it down for maximum club effect.

This April, house and techno mainstay Loco Dice is stepping out with En Couleur, a brand new label reserved exclusively for his own music.

En Couleur, means "in colour" in French, and has been chosen because of the language's association with love, but also, says Loco Dice, because "colour stands for the diversity of cultures I absorb and artists I meet on my life journey. Lots of things I do in my life appear in colour. The music I produce is like my movie in technicolor, and the music I play is sorted by colour in my crates and folders."

En Couleur is about music that will not be controlled by traditional plans and strategies. It is for music that will be shared as and when it is ready, and will become a platform for all sorts of collaborations with friends and different artists. Of course, the Dusseldorf man behind it has already accomplished so much, from critically acclaimed albums and EPs on his Desolat label to sell out world tours, major label releases and plenty of key residencies. He has long been synonymous with a big, hard hitting house and techno sound that is well informed by his life-long love of hip hop, and with this new label proves he is as keen as ever to evolve, adapt, and explore new musical forms.

En Couleur launches with a superb solo EP from Dice himself, then keeps up a busy rate of release with four further EPs planned before the end of the year. The first offering opens with 'Sweet Nectar Blossom', a fresh track with jazzy chords and well swung bass that gets you in the groove. Muffled vocal sounds and clipped keys all bring a late night feeling of romance and playfulness. 'Kanak Funk' has crisp Chicago drums run through with woozy pads and thoughtful keys. It's a deep, hugely atmospheric track that is as much for the headband heart as the heel. Last of all, 'Believe In Me' is another lush house track with spiritual leads that drift off to the heavens and smooth drums and bass that brim with real warmth and soul.

Music is 4 Lovers continue their Global Lovers compilation series with GLV5; featuring 8 brand new tracks from a cast of all-Russian artists.

Up first on the comp is a groovy, space-filled microhouse track out of Moscow from Vanilla Ninja resident, Adamov; followed by a big tech house bomber from Toolroom artist, Alex Twitchy.

We seasoned a little poppy flavor over the compilation with an infectious tune from BLENT; which is a collaboration project between Cedric Gasaida, former lead singer of Azari & III; and Russian producer Victor Karzalov. The VA then takes a minimal turn with a deep groover from Moscow-based duo Bypass.

Hailing from Saint Petersburg, Jax D lights up the compilation with a stick of dance floor dynamite; proceeded by Mik Kartl’s jungle-inspired track.

Highway Records bossman and a veteran of Moscow’s underground, Mike Spirit delivers a massive tech house tune ready to smash dance floors all over the world. The compilation ends with another Moscow-based veteran, Yasha F, who slows it down with a raw grinding tune that features cuts from the infamous movie of the late 80’s, Robocop.
