"The Revenge of Shinobi" is one of the most respected and beloved games of the Sega Genesis 16-Bit era, and a large part of that had to do with Yuzo Koshiro's monumental soundtrack. 

I wanted to flesh out these songs with full-fledged expansions for the enjoyment of ROS fans around the globe. This is my take on the original soundtrack, with entirely new sections to theorize what might have been if Koshiro had more time, better hardware, and more storage capacity. As always, EVERY song in the soundtrack has been painstakingly recreated from the ground up, note-for-note. No sampling, no rips, no stems.

🥷🥷🥷Shinobi fans, unite! After years of setbacks and practice, the time has come to kick off a brand new project - "REVENGE OF SHINOBI." I'm starting out with 'Opening,' the main title which is drastically short, and was never meant to be a full-fledged song........

......until NOW, that is. My rework of 'Opening' features an entirely new fleshed out expansion complete with mystically-tinted atmosphere, courtesy of the Nagoya Harp, the Shakuhachi, and the traditional Koto. This soundtrack will attempt to inject more Japanese authenticity (or as much as a Western Gaijin can manage all on his own) into the traditional chiptune soundtrack we all know and love. This is just a taste of things to come!

🥷🥷🥷I've never tackled "Long Distance" before, even when I started my initial Revenge of Shinobi E+E project in the past. Being the completionist I am, I felt it was a good chance to tackle yet another track that doesn't exactly get a lot of attention, given that it's an attract mode song. 

This is a brief, yet logical expansion that builds on the original track with an entirely new section that is perfect to enjoy the full groove. It's what I would have envisioned for a full-length version of the song.

🥷🥷🥷I've been itching to get back to "The Shinobi" as a gateway song to the rest of the soundtrack, and I've put a lot of effort and sweat into it to make sure it came out sounding perfect. As always, this is a note-for-note reconstruction of the original song, from the ground up, with my own expansion added to flesh it out. I love how everything came together on this song, particularly when utilizing wonderful Japanese and Asian instruments for greater atmosphere.

🥷🥷🥷This version of "Terrible Beat" is heavy on the expansion side, particularly because of how short the original is. It was meant to be fast and frantic, but I wanted to add some more meat onto the bone to beef it up. Here's my fully fleshed out rendition to give this kinetic boss theme a bit more muscle.

After almost 3 months of being out of commission due to a move halfway around the world to Singapore, and dealing with a few technical hiccups in the form of a blown CPU and some late audio hardware deliveries, I'm finally back on track and better than ever with a brand new studio! The original version of "Silence Night" plays when the main player fails to rescue Naoko from being crushed to death during the final battle with Zeed, thus triggering the bad ending. The original 40+ second version of the song only hints at the tragedy of it all. I wanted my expansion to put the listener in the mind of Joe Musashi, and the anguish and sorrow he would have felt over failing at his task, and losing the love of his life. I also wanted to amplify the atmosphere by adding in some harmonized piano and a Japanese koto for more authenticity. Hope you all enjoy it.

Silence Night (Expanded & Enhanced) • THE REVENGE OF SHINOBI

The original version of "My Lover" felt like 10% of a finished ending theme, and I wanted to greatly flesh it out without over-extending its allure and welcome. This meant beefing up the section with a twofold approach: 

1) To stress the importance of the "good ending," and the saving of Naoko from certain death at the hands of Zeed's trap.

2) To create a much more compelling, rousing and triumphant ending theme that takes into account everything Joe Musashi went through during the game.

You, listener, will decide if I hit that mark or not. For now, I'm very proud of what I've done with the soundtrack for "The Revenge of Shinobi," and I'm very happy you have all joined me for the journey. Big news to come as I move onto a brand new soundtrack, so stay tuned!

🔥FINAL CRASH UPDATE / Nov. 6/23🔥 - "Go Straight" is one of the hardest Streets of Rage songs to mix, balance and master. After years of fighting it, I've finally created a version that I feel most happy with. I don't think I'll ever get it perfect (nothing is), but this is the closest to the vision I wanted. This is one of the hardest rocking video game tunes ever created, and I'm proud to build on Yuzo Koshiro's dynamite ingenuity and imagination with my expanded sections.
