As a long time resident at the Silky Tunes parties in Amsterdam, it’s was always a given to kick off the very first Silky Session with Jack Dolo. He is perhaps best known for the Uprock show which he hosted monthly on Red Light Radio for four years. He has also popped up sporadically at Brilliant Corners and on NTS, guesting on the Adam Oko show most recently. 

Jack spent a large part of his childhood in the middle east and has since lived in London, Amsterdam and is now based in Lisbon, Portugal. This roaming spirit has been a defining feature of his radio shows since day one. After moving to Amsterdam he began dabbling with bringing this approach to a club setting - with the early Silky Tunes parties being instrumental in this journey. Now embarking on a new City and post covid world who knows what the next turn will be.

This mix has no boundaries. With high energy grooves, cosmic sounds and tribal drums, Jack takes you on a journey between inner and outer space, straight back to your own imaginary dance floor.

Folklore is the expressive body of culture shared by a particular group of people; it encompasses the traditions common to that culture, subculture or group. This includes oral traditions such as tales, proverbs and jokes. They include material culture, ranging from traditional building styles to handmade toys common to the group. Folklore also includes customary lore, taking actions for folk beliefs, the forms and rituals of celebrations such as Christmas and weddings, folk dances and initiation rites. Each one of these, either singly or in combination, is considered a folklore artifact. Just as essential as the form, folklore also encompasses the transmission of these artifacts from one region to another or from one generation to the next.

In comes Catalin Stefan Paunescu with his own folklore MBE transmission. A Romanian DJ based in Da Nang, Vietnam, who's made a name for himself as DJ Bipolar Bear and promoter for Badaboom events. The mix starts with a deep tune sampling Romanian folklore and keeps the approach touching on Brazil, Vietnam, Japan, India, Middle East and West Africa. This is Acid Folkloric.
