The March issue of DylanHour presents the two Troubadour Tales books by Keith Miles (https://www.radiodarmstadt.de/news/dylanhour-troubadour-tales-und-klaus-doldinger-in-nyc.html)

In the course of the pandemic, Keith has designed a guide through clubs and bars in London (together with Jackie Lees) and New York's Greenwich Village, asking companions to tell their stories with Dylan and visit the places and stations of his career again.

The host of the show has conducted an interview with the British "Dylan" author after the London concerts, about his "Troubadour Tales" and his current impressions of the last concerts of the Rough and Rowdy Ways worldwide tour. 

The DylanHour repeatedly suggests an arc in the German and international jazz cosmos and presents the recently published autobiography by Klaus Doldinger with the title: "Made in Germany - My Life for the Music." The host is focused on the experiences of the 60's and 70's in New York City, and from time to time it is musically immersed in the spheres of jazz & folk of those days.

Klaus Doldinger has a lot to tell about his experiences and performances in New York and even found himself in 1972 at a party with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Andy Warhol.

This also means that half a century of life for music is not yet told today until now and here. But certainly in the near future at Neighborhood Bullies & Shooting Stars.

Martin Mc Carthy lives in Cork City, Ireland, and spent several years working for the Defence Forces, before studying English at UCC and becoming a secondary school teacher. “You don’t sound like anyone else,” said Danny Thompson - legendary bassist for Nick Drake and Joe Strummer - about English producer Conil.

Tchad Blake, sonic architect for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, agreed: “Strange Part of the Country is an amazing album. I still listen to it.”

Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green was also a fan, making a rare visit to Conil’s studio to record a mellow take on “Woke Up Around Midnight,” his smoky tribute to the jazz greats.

Conil’s distinct sound has drawn praise from Marc Ribot, Davey Graham, Pino Palladino, and John Leckie - artists and producers known for recognising the real thing when they hear it.

Upon release, Strange Part of the Country made quiet but lasting waves. Q Magazine gave it four stars and a Q Recommends stamp. Blues Matters Magazine put Conil on the cover, calling him “one of the most original artists out there.” In the U.S., “Years Between” climbed to number three on the Alternative Radio Chart.

Raised in England on the Rolling Stones, the Velvet Underground, and Tom Waits, Conil later lived in some of the world’s most musically charged cities - New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Austin and Berlin - chasing sound wherever he went.

That began early. He travelled far, met the Dalai Lama, climbed Kilimanjaro, and crossed the Himalayas - experiences that shaped his perspective and his music.

He is now finishing his long-awaited second album - recorded in New Orleans, Chicago, London and Greece - with Danny Thompson, Tchad Blake and more.
