M.A.N.D.Y. Presents Get Physical On Ibiza #108 mixed by Catz 'N Dogz live at Watergate

With any long-running party, if you go to enough of them, you’re likely to encounter some familiar faces. Drifter Angle (@drifterangle ) aka Evan Franks is a Denver-based DJ who has been to just about every Sorted party, and we’re stoked to present this obvious labor of love as the next entry in our series. The mix is a decidedly uptempo party-rocking effort that reminds us of a night out at multi-room party.

The listener is invited to the check out the UKG, ardcore, broken techno, etc. rooms for the first part of the mix before eventually finding itself at the front of the dancefloor in the jungle/dnb room till the lights come on.

Much like a proper night out, this one will leave you sweaty and smiling.

FCKDSKO Presents: FCKTAPE VOL 2

Finally, @newnumbertwo aka Wallace Winfrey, one of Sorted's founders and reluctant chief resident DJ releases a mix in the Sorted Series. Recorded at the first Sorted Weekender in March 2022, this near 3-hour set was recorded to 4 tracks - a stereo feed from the mixer and a stereo feed from a Rode NT4 microphone pointed straight at the crowd, then mixed down to stereo.

"This set was a lot of fun to play, was definitely feeling it - I would get things really cranking, then would pull back because I'd imposed a misperception on myself that opening DJs really shouldn't go so hard - I needn't have worried, as Ben UFO was playing after!"

Starting with dub techno and then moving into heady garridge followed by a steady flow of breaks, techno, dubstep and UKG, newnumbertwo's set feels a lot like the typical flow at a Sorted.

"After a brief interlude that brought back memories of GQ/Kenny Ken telling people they needed to move their car (from the SR remix of Hackney Parrot), I finally got up to the end of hour three and was feeling like Digital Mystikz' Anti-War Dub was a good way to close things out given the Russians had invaded Ukraine earlier that week. Ben finally arrived at the venue (an ice blizzard had touched down that night, which made travel precarious and the party all the more vibey) and told me when he walked in and heard those bass tones, it felt like home. I dropped one more track - Rob Smith's B Line Fi Blo, and then sat on the recording for almost 2 years. I'm glad to finally put it out in the world"

one of the oldest of friends newnumbertwo brings us the first mix of SMWC for 2017. A dreamy romp through house and techno. get a nice warm cup, have a sit outside and listen to some jams. 

newnumbertwo says:

As you know, the last 4-5 years I’ve been immersing myself in the UK post-garage/future forward/broken beat/whatever you want to call it sound, and I started noticing I had these deeper tracks that wouldn’t normally fit into one of my sets. Floaty, sentimental, lilting, but all with the swingin funk I love so much.

So, last Sunday, I woke up, made myself some amazing coffee and put this mix together. I hope you like it. Thanks for letting me contribute, and for being my buddy all these years.

Cerro sez: Josh asked me to make a mix for him a while ago with the prompt "play stuff you'd want to listen to at home on Sunday morning."   After a year of ruminating over what I want to listen to I gave up and did my taxes. To celebrate countless hours of organizing and filing, I decided to put together some tracks for this mix. NEWNUMBERTWO (Sorted / Denver)

Wallace Winfrey aka @newnumbertwo has been paying keen attention to tangents, mutations & edge cases in electronic music since his first exposure to industrial and ambient in 1988. After a few years as a trainspotter/collector and participant in the nascent net.rave scene (big ups hyperreal & mw-raves), he started DJing jungle in the midwest in 1994, and since 1997, has been a stalwart of the Colorado rave scene, working with crews such as Trust and Mother Earth Sound System before starting the Sorted parties with Veronica Lamaak in 2015. Sorted focuses on the intersection of bass, techno, jungle and UKG, eschewing easy or predictable pigeonholing but with a decided soft spot for the city of Bristol. 

This set was performed at Deep Club's 2018 Summer Freakout, and is reflective of the Sorted sound: a foundation of heady techno with frequent excursions into broken beats and bass.
