Prolific French producer Mael Péneau aka Maelstrom swings by for an exclusive Bleep mix, and unsurprisingly lives up to his tumultuous moniker. His hour-long exercise in combing through his hard-hitting obsessions begins firmly on the left-field with some viscous acid from short-lived Toytronic super-trio Abfahrt Hinwil, coasting down the low-end into the hardened balaclava-donning electro of Megaphonim and the dextrous lo-fi rhythms of Minor Science. Alongside his selections of underground innovators and contemporary big-league players, Péneau delivers a host of rugged techno brick-breakers from his 2021 LP Rhizome.

"This mix is an experiment into understanding how my album (and the new direction I’ve taken with my productions) could eventually translate to a dance floor. I’ve pushed my set into a more narrative shape than what a DJ set usually is about, with different speeds, spaces and energy levels, using sources from times and places that engage in a dialogue that I thought would be interesting." - Maelstrom

Fear-E Mix for Don't Be Afraid Rinse FM Takeover

Maker of the dopest tracks, Glasgow's Fear-E is a definite fav around here. Ever since i got sent a batch of his new tracks i pretty much did not stop playing them, as they're all really inventive and effective all at once, with menacing melodies and twisted textures. We have a running joke that people only film me playing when one of his tracks is on! but the reality is i only play his music, nothing else muahahahaha
part of the dixon avenue basement jams crew, this bb is also a very good dj who hops between the best stuff in any dance genre with ease and intent, but for this mix we asked him for a very specific thing, an intense electro mix - after hearing through the grapevine that he'd like to do make people robot-dance to the sounds of fast electro music more often. and, tbh, listen to this naivetape and hear for yourself how prepared he is to legit electrify dancefloors no pun intended. also he's such a sound, lovely person and that's... the best. 
ps - we asked him and he does not Fear E btw, he thinks it's actually a gr8 time but these days he avoids it. so yeah, just to clear the air.
