3.  Announced on April 27, 2017 that Spotify acquired Mediachain, a blockchain startup, backed by VC firm, Andreessen Horowitz, to help ensure fair royalty payments. This is in part a response to a legal settlement where Spotify agreed to pay $25 million and $5 million penalty due to unpaid and unmatched songs performed by Spotify. In 2018, Spotify is expected to launch an IPO.
