George Boronas is a Hamburg-based DJ and producer. He began his career in the mid-90s in Thessaloniki, Greece. Early influences came from his parents’ tape and record collection including music from Jean-Michel Jarre, The Doors, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and many others. A few piano and guitar lessons were enough to make him realise his love of music, and made him want to be a part of all that. He started DJing at the young age of 15 and with his unique top mixing skills and record collection he gained significant reputation achieving appearances in festivals, parties and events in various venues and clubs in Europe, as well as being invited onto famous radio and TV shows.For the past years, George Boronas & George Delkos are behind the project name "Square Room Heroes" with releases in many labels like Claap,Back n Forth,Exotic Refreshment and many others.

Working recently with Jakob Seidensticker (Wareika) and Snad where new horizons opened up and lead them to many releases in many well know labels like Visionquest, Minibar, Pleasure Zone, Flying Circus,Variete, Abartik,Roundqube,Local Raider and many others.
George’s DJ sets are primarily on vinyl and are influenced from Detroit, Romanian, and Berlin techno, as well as Chicago, New York, and London house. Incorporating many dark, spooky, jazz, cinematic and abstract elements, gives each and every Boronas DJ set a particularly distinct signature.

Background & visions

Born inside creative culture surroundings and the gift of set up playgrounds to evolve talent and personality from the beginning - the uplifting mind was ready to roll .

Talented in drums and percussion and professional education in relevant fields of expression, the journey was set in the `90s. Diving into the audiovisual culture of places like Ibiza, Thailand, India/Goa, Bali or Brazil - the vision of real trance music as an inside core of creative expression grew up and started the drive .

Back into northern europe, the musical playground was opened and ready for electronic sound performances inside hometown clubs/OA like VOOV,Universum/Rot,Übell&Gefährlich, Docks or Südpol,Volt ,Ov.silence ,Laut & Brillant - and many, many more.

Always exploring the sound driven journeys into body and mind.

dj phono 
has no fear of failing, for if he shall fail it will be with utter jubilation. he has nothing to loose, but is willing to risk everything. this makes him uncomfortable and unpredictable for all those who dare nothing in life. one thought that never troubles him during his morning toilet is: "impulsive menschen kennen keine grenzen".
even though being a member of the formation deichkind has evolved dj phono into a different person one should refrain from confusing the two. neither does dj phono produce music for deichkind, nor does their repertoire appear in his dj set.
he is the brain behind the deichkind liveshow and the whole overriding concept hidden within the techno lunacy. right from the off he has continuously and tirelessly attempted to force a gap between proletarian and sophisticated culture. he is a hellbender and merciless critic of the band luring them towards the end of the branch.
dj phono and bon jovi have nothing in common. this is why phono composes music that he likes. “party is my profession” is what he usually replies when being asked, why at 5 am in the morning he is still to be found at the pudel club - sober. there is always something new to discover, no matter where you look.
this explains why he has turned his back on the usual “hau den lukas”-method and ignores expectations. he rather likes to pick the bananas from the trees of slow mounting tensions, because dj phono is never bored on stage: yes, he will even turn of his mobile phone off just to be alone with you.
categories and limitations are only to be vanquished. people often create strange convoluted sentences in an attempt to describe his music. someone once said very fittingly: “emotional-temporary-minimal-but-then-more-and-more-techno-with- pop-appeal-thru-techhouse-suitable-for-dancing-taking-the-cake-techno-electro+surprise”. music associated with labels like kompakt, get physical, dial, playhouse, smallville, systematic, dfa, environ, ibadan, border community, ostgut ton, pampa, circus company, bpitch control and liebe detail. boring, dreary minimal-poppycock, is simply left out.
2011 he will start a new chapter.
dj phono will finally release his new album “welcome to wherever you’re not” on hamburg’s record label diynamic. the release will be flanked with a supranormal liveperformance. LEDs, hydraulics, roboter, radio technology and projections alternate the room. daft punk and etienne de crecy will be delighted. the concept comprises artists developing individual visual concepts for each album song and implying the respective localities and contexts.
dj phono is also a member of the band extra (1978). in 1998 he was european-vice-scratch-champion and incidentally, when he’s in the mood, he also produces and mixes music for others – former cooperation’s include artists such as erobi- que, egoexpress, commercial breakup, international pony and die goldenen zitronen.
dj phono has no hobbies.
