Producer, DJ and Deception Recordings boss Manifest steps up on the label for No Way Out / Build And Destroy, his latest EP. Here, Manifest deploys throttling bass lines, detailed percussion lines and eerie sonics, delivering two tracks of pure rave energy designed to light up speakers and get ravers dancing.

'No Way Out' kicks off the record. Opening with hyperspeed drum programming and a symphony of distorted low-end patterns, Manifest layers the introduction as the track plays out. A rolling, grainy drum line enters the fray while the vocal samples become mangled. 'No Way Out' eventually explodes into a heavyweight verse as crunchy bass riffs claw over intense drums.

Up next is 'Build And Destroy'. Here, cosmic pads, chopped vocals and quick drum hits make up the intro, a weightless and ominous opening. The track eventually drops into a high-octane verse as seismic bass lines burrow into the brain's deepest areas. Driving percussion gives 'Build And Destroy' plenty of forward motion, making the tune one to lose your mind and body to.

No Way Out / Build And Destroy will arrive to Beatport & Spotfiy on 11th July, landing on all digital platforms two weeks later on 25th July.

Deception Recordings boss Manifest returns
to the label with the double A-side Medusa / Sovereign.

Counting established artists including BTK, Gremlinz, and 2Shy MC on their roster, Deception Recordings has carved out a unique spot in the drum and bass landscape for dark and techy rollers. At the helm of the label, Manifest has worked to push this sound on the imprint and in his own musical output, earning guest mix spots on platforms including Data Transmission and recognition for the label from notable artists including Andy C, Gydra, Black Sun Empire, North Base, and Evol
Intent.

The first track on this release, Medusa, conjures up images of a cybernetic society in the distant future. Digital soundscapes and effects which would not be out of place in either Blade Runner or a forest psytrance cut pair with squelchy basses which slither between tight and mechanical drums.
The result: a pulsating weapon tuned to shake up dancefloors.

In contrast, Sovereign presents a gritty and organic sonic aesthetic which is reminiscent of the techstep found on labels such as Virus and Moving Shadow in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Big snares, steppy kicks, and twisted reese basses are the order of the day here, alongside dubbed out vocal samples and dystopian sound effects.

Across this release, Manifest reignites the forward-thinking and futuristic energy present in early drum and bass with two tracks which capture the musical diversity of the techy continuum.

Deception Recordings boss Manifest delivers two cuts of deep, minimal, and techy drum and bass - including one collaborative single with the
veteran Voice MC.

As the label founder, you would expect a Manifest production to match the dark and gritty sonic aesthetic which Deception Recordings has represented since its inception. His most recent contributions do not disappoint. 
Equally, you would anticipate that MC who has previously worked
with legends including Brockie, Bryan Gee, and Fabio and Grooverider to deliver serious vocal talent. Once again, expectations are exceeded.

The dual single opens with The Basement, a Voice MC feature. An anthem for the basement raves which serve as the foundation and soul of the genre, the effortless flow of Voice MC captures the energy of a dimly lit, low ceiling room filled with a pumping soundsystem. Even though the vocals are paired with an instrumental as intense as the subject matter, all of the elements fall into place - like any well-run rave. Steppy drums, fizzy basslines, and dubbed-out vocal chops make for a dirty minimal tune ready perfectly crafted for a club environment.

Phoenix Rising follows with an instrumental track heavily influenced by dystopian drum and bass from the turn of the millennium, a regular feature of Manifest’s production style. Chromatic chord progressions carried by lucious pads, ethereal vocals, and shuffling hats set the stage for a climax characterised by thick, syncopated snares, punchy kicks, and a twisted call-and-response bass pattern. Much like a Phoenix, the ‘90s-00’s techstep sound has been resurrected - this time, in a contemporary form.

Manifest and Tanc (formerly producing under the Meth alias) team up on their joint return to Deception Recordings with two dark and dirty minimal drum and bass bangers.

Both artists have delicately honed their unique sound and made significant contributions to the label in recent years. As the label boss, Manifest's own distinctive brand of dark and techy drum and bass is fundamentally intertwined with the Deception Recordings output. Similarly, with a history of regular releases on the label and collaborations with other artists including Audio, Prolix, and Xtrah, Tan has also found a home for his productions on the label.

With a string of previous collaborations under their belt on projects including Nitty Gritty, System Error, and Suicide Run EP, the partnership has flourished as the two producers craft a cohesive and precise sound together - all visible on their latest release.

Stingray sets the tone with reverb-drenched Rhodes chords, dubbed-out vocal chops, and pitched-down hats, giving the impression that the tune will evolve into a jazzy, liquid roller. This is not the case, however; after 32 bars of calm, a clash-ready vocal sample cuts through and heralds a sizzling bassline of seismic proportions as Manifest and Tanc flex their characteristic sub-heavy sound.

On the flipside, Monika gives no doubt that it is anything else other than a heavyweight cut of minimal drum and bass from the outset. Dissonant, filtered dystopian soundscapes and tight drums gradually build into an apocalyptic drop, complete with ethereal vocal chops and twisted minimal basslines. One to keep any crowd locked in through a big system.

First came the Deception Podcast – it was a platform which amassed a huge fan base, one which began to become a tastemaker within the murkier realms of dark-tech, with the neuro rollers from the likes of Mainfest, BTK, Meth and Raiden premiering across its airwaves. And next the label Deception was born, which infected the scene whilst paying homage to an era which took you to the depths of its murky soundscapes. Over the years, they’ve built an army of artists who won’t sacrifice their production standards for a more commercially viable appeal. Already knowing how to promote these sounds, they became the perfect hub for cutting-edge dance music, with their roster beginning to grow despite their no-holds-barred take on drum & bass.

And they’re about to unleash a two-track EP which features reworks of tracks that have already made their place felt within the label’s back catalogue. It’s the first in a series of releases which will take you into the trenches of Deception; the ‘Suicide Run Remixes’ prove that Deception have made their mark within the genre. First up is Demigroove’s take on ‘Untamed Warrior’ from Manifest, Meth and 2Shy. Demigroove debuted on Deception with his collaborative single alongside Exile and Silicon and his return takes you to a journey through hell. However, it brings you to the surface with funk layered drums, bass stabs and techno riffs, whilst its progression sees MC 2Shy’s vocals manipulated. A student of the legendary Raiden, it comes as no surprise that Demigroove twists the original on its head, with more to come on Deception with his forthcoming EP currently in the works.

Deception Recordings has often been signposted as a pillar of the darker drum & bass community. They’ve time and time again shown that their selection and commitment to the harder to find, nastier subsections of dance music are some of the most aggressive, yet technically defined, cuts which make themselves present in the sets of the scene’s underworld. Defining themselves as dedicated to the ‘dark tech of neuro rollers’, they’ve welcomed the likes of Manifest, BTK, Meth, Raiden, Verb, Genotype, Gremlinz and Demigroove into their space, infecting their world with only the most cut-throat records. 

An offshoot of the ‘Deception Podcast’, the label has prided itself in delivering the type of music they’ve showcased from the beginning. Subscribers to the podcast soon became avid listeners of the label and their imprint’s releases have been steadily expanding - and so has their roster of artists; a brand-new producer they’ve introduced to their listenership is Shibumi, hailing from San Francisco and delivering the vibes Deception are renowned for. The two-track single, ‘Monitor’ and ‘Deviant’, was introduced to the heads of Deception by Demigroove, who’s already demonstrated his prowess through his own output on the label. With Shibumi comes a different sound, adding another dimension to Deception and showing their penchant for finding new talent.

‘Monitor’ begins with rumbles of bass, before its clicking hi-hats lull you into a false sense of security. Seasoned drum & bass fans will know what this means – you’re about to be dropped through a cataclysmic hole, one whose depth is emphasised through pumping drum relays. The impact of ‘Monitor’ is moody and ruminating, yet you’re still left to feel its weight throughout each sixteen bars. ‘Deviant’ weaves you through its tinny drums and throbbing subs, allowing a slight reprieve before your once again caught up in the minimal, yet expansive and smashing soundscapes of Shibumi.

Deception Recordings is back for another climatic. For this release, BTK, Cold Fusion and Manifest come together to bring you two brand new selections on the label. With a friendship which spans over ten years,
being an integral part of the Renegade Hardware Crew, BTK, Cold Fusion and Manifest join forces for a three-way collaboration EP on Deception Recordings. ‘Daybreak’ and ‘Surge’ are guaranteed to cause dancefloor
annihilation and on first listen it’s easy to hear the history between each of the three artists. 

Beginning the first of two tracks is ‘Daybreak’. With heavy drum work, the type of which give the track a serious weight as it crashes into fruition, you become instantly aware of the power which all three artists conjure when they put together their undeniable production standards. Bit by bit you’re taken along for the titanic ride, one engineered with gyrating hooks and a bassline which cuts through the mix undeterred. There’s also intricacy within its madness and before long you’re fully taken along for the ride.

Next up you’re welcomed into the world of ‘Surge’. Following its forerunner, the thumping kick drums punch
through the composition, building layer by layer until it becomes impossible to escape from the freight-train like qualities of this track; it’s one which ensures it never steers away from being the top quality you’d expect from these producers.

The name Verb has been on the, Drum & Bass scene for many years. He has been known for representing the darker side of drum & bass on His Kool FM show every Saturday for many years, but now Verb is a rising name in the production, which has Remixed Manifest’s Dub War PT2 on the Nitty Gritty E.P on Deception in 2011. Also has a forthcoming remix of Future Cut’s classic "Whiplash" on Renegade Hardware & another remix done for Breakage ‘s (I bring you the Future) classic track which is becoming a club anthem with support from all top flight Dj’s. He also has collaboration with Cern on Dispatch Recordings in 2013. Verb comes back to Deception to Show his Past, Present & Future beats for the masses. BTK Needs no.Introduction. We all know his works on Labels: Virus, Renegade Hardware, Shogun Audio, Playaz, Subtitles, Redlight and his own Label Dutty Audio and endless Club Anthems with Optiv.

Many may ask "Whats the connection with BTK & Deception?
The Answer is BTK helped to shape the label into the sound it is Today. 
In 2008 he Teamed up with Manifest on a track entitled "Infected World" which bought alot of attention to the Label worldwide.  The boys also tested out the 1st "Deception Recordings Night" in Ulm, Germany 2009, which was in conjunction with Soulfire Promotions. The Event was a success and had 800 heads respectively.

BTK has come back on 005 to Showcase Past , Present & his new music forthcoming on Various labels, plus  some classics thrown in for good measure. On this pocast he digs deep showing his skills as a DJ and why he is one of the hottest Brands in Drum & Bass today.
