This newest Edit/Remix we present you today is a 2011 remix by MANIK, which he made for the Australian R&B Band "Diafrix". It was his first ever official remix, even though never released,  for an indie/pop/urban project. The original mix of the song gained a lot of attention in 2011 and hit the iTunes top 10 charts in both the UK and Australia. This remix was used for Radio only purposes but since today you are able to get your copy for FREE! NYC's MANIK made a big splash when he appeared on the scene five years ago with releases on Culprit, Poker Flat and Ovum. Since his relocation to Los Angeles, he's managed to keep up with the game and still bring the goods via Ellen Allien's Bpitch Control. This new Ovum EP sees MANIK teaming up with local chanteuse Cari Golden(of Narcotourist who has also lent her talents to the likes of DJ T) as they serves us with "Recourse" a smooth and slinky tech house groove that's made for sexy dancefloor moments and sure make the walls sweat too. Ode to his new hometown "Los Angeles" is a bit darker funk with those emotive pads and rusty, dirty drum machine patterns. Unlike its namesake it has a distinct Detroit vibe to it though ,which is great anyway."

Recourse EP feat. Cari Golden [OVUM]

MANIK's latest release on Poker Flat Recordings suggests the young New Yorker has a lot up his sleeve for 2016. Having just delivered a bomb on Ovum entitled "Recourse" with vocals from the talented Cari Golden, he is on a mission this year. MANIK has been lucky enough to spin everywhere from Panorama Bar to Womb in Tokyo, the Weights and Measures EP solidifies his emerging reputation as fresh voice on the scene.

The release kicks off with 'Thirsty Crow' - a tightly wound groove that breaks down the barriers between house and techno effortlessly. The track builds around an infectious synth melody, and the interplay between various percussive elements - all designed for maximum damage on the dance-floor.

'Weights & Measures' is a deeply acidic affair that finds space for some luscious pads to break the tension, while 'Complexity' riffs off a classic house vibe but throws in some deeply leftfield sounds and rhythms for the heads.

'Heard One' also takes its cue from classic Chicago sounds, but updates it with some distinctly contemporary flavour and vocals from MC Kew G. Strictly Chicago right here."

A seasoned crate digger, he spends hours in record shops to find those forgotten records and hidden gems. Now residing in sunny Southern California, Chris is also a taste-maker and educator. In 2020, he started releasing dance music cuts under a brand new artist name: "Chris D106."
