MANIK presents his brand new Radio Show entitled "Welcome To My Crate." In other words, welcome to my house.

Alongside house music legends Doc Martin, Fred Everything, and Seven Davis Jr, this show will be aired on a monthly block entitled "Underground Sounds of America." Welcome To My Crate is the 2nd week of every month- airing Friday at 3pm LA/6pm NY with a re run on Saturday.

"The concept is simple: Once a month I hit you with a 60 minute mixtape of selections from my crates. Anything I've bought on Vinyl over the years, says MANIK."  'Welcome To My Crate' isn't your typical DJ Mix show either. The show will also be inviting special guests on each month, in a special short story/perspective segment called "Six Minute Stories." The special segment details our Dance Music Culture through the stories and experiences of the guests! It will touch on the history of our underground music, past, present and into the future.

Expect everything from real underground Deep House, early to mid 90s House, late 80s Kiss FM Mastermix classics, and Paradise Garage vibes, all the way to Acid House, Chicago House classic, and Detroit Techno!! Whatever MANIK has on vinyl is getting played- even some special shows dedicated to classic hip hop and funk/soul in the collection.

Episode 001- "In this months '6 Minute Stories' segment, we speak to my good friend- Jon Martin. Most of my NYC family know him personally, but if you haven't met this wonderful human being, he is pretty much a wealth of knowledge/stories about our beloved dance music world- with a doctorate in NYC Nightlife! It's my pleasure to bring him on as the first guest in this segment. We briefly spoke about the roots behind the changes in underground NYC nightlife over the course of the 90s, and why it really changed so drastically."

Episode 002- "The November show features the wonderful Robert Owens. From being involved in Fingers Inc to classics like "I'll Be Your Friend" and many more countless gems, I was lucky enough to interview the voice of Chicago House music. We spoke about making music with Larry Heard, legendary club Den One and meeting Ron Hardy there, Southside's Jeffrey Pub, and even a little bit about Frankie Knuckles. Since this months episode features Robert, I decided to play 60 minutes of my personal favorite Chicago House music from 1986-1992, and also plenty of rare acid house cuts."

Episode 003- "The December show features the talented James Duncan. Trumpet player, DJ/Producer, and Vinyl collector. From being involved in the debut Metro Area album in 2002, and classics like "House Of Jealous Lovers" on DFA, to running his label Le Systeme Records, James has been involved in music since the 80s. We spoke about playing Trumpet on some amazing records, his first trips down to NYC from Toronto, meeting Morgan Geist/Metro Area and more. As always, the DJ Mix is 60 minutes of my personal favorite House, Acid, Disco, and Techno music from my crates!

The second hand vinyl website has become an extraordinary encyclopedia of music compiling over 8 million titles in its database. I spoke with Liz Maddux of the Community department about why Discogs has been able to do what it has done for so long and also about their Crate Diggers series!

“All killer, no filler” may be  the title of Sum 41’s debut album, but also fits pretty well in describing this mix. Utterly rammo of just pure jammers - can make a fella (even when sat in an office environment, uploading this mix, fairly bored) start grinning for no apparent reason.

We are excited to present our next guest mix this week from Melbourne's own Craig Williams. Now a resident in Los Angeles Williams has made a name for himself over the last several years with incredible productions ranging from House to Techno to Acid and all the places in between. He has released again a few days ago with one of my favorite labels Motorik which is how we were originally introduced to his sound. He has other releases for Nurvous, Sweat It Out, Snatch!, NEST HQ and Food along with many many more. Most recently in 2017 you may have seen him gracing the festival stages here in the US for Insomniac Presents. In addition to that he is an ambassador for the music. He is constantly pushing the boundaries of where the genres can go and is very open about sharing his music making process to his followers.

Pioneer of the musical genre “ANDES HOUSE” and hailing from Quito Ecuador, Carloh is known as the gangster of the Andes.

He was influenced by his uncle and his father who were DJ’s. They taught him to mix turntables and consoles while learning congas and bongos percussion.

He later on Travelled to Europe and fell in love with electronic music and broadened his musical palette and has never looked back since.

Anastasia Kristensen (@anastasiakristensen) first caught our attention around two years ago, and we’ve been waiting for the chance to bring her to Farringdon ever since. The young Danish DJ had as big a year as any breaking techno artist gets in 2017, appearing at respected places like Berghain and Unsound for the first time in between regular dates at her adopted Copenhagen home, Culture Box.

The recent surge in interest surrounding Kristensen isn’t without good reason. Her record collection has the suggestibility of an artist with an experience spanning decades rather than years, covering classic 90s-era Warp through to recent Houndstooth or Ostgut Ton. When she plays out she’ll make the jump between these usually disparate sounds within a few records, building sets that are as unpredictable as they are intense and encompassing. It’s how she’s played in her promo mix for us, which has only added to our excitement for her first appearance with us on 24th February.

It’s people like Mano Le Tough who make DJing into an art form, as you can tell from the mix he has done for us ahead of our festival in São Paolo this weekend. The connection he makes with dance floors are always as deep as can be; with a real sense of melody, emotion and song like structure, he crafts sets that make a lasting impact on those who hear them. This has resulted in him being one of the busiest DJs on the circuit, on a par with deep house heroes Ame and Dixon, who he plays with regularly. As a producer, his smooth and mellifluous sounds land on labels like Permanent Vacation and more recently Pampa, which is a perfect fit for his curious sense of melody.  

This week’s mix is an hour of deep house that rumbles through a humid jungle, zones you out with hypnotic vocal tracks and encourages you to day dream amongst distant pads. Even when things turn more towards a techno groove later on, you still remain deeply entrenched in the groove, marching on through to a trippy climax that gently stirs you out of your hypnosis with a real celestial charm.

The Queens native is the quintessential New York City DJ; a connoisseur of dance music with an inimitable style that crosses multiple genres. A seasoned crate digger, he spends hours in record shops to find those forgotten records and hidden gems. Now residing in sunny Southern California, Chris is also a taste-maker and educator.
