For nearly a decade, Tycho has been known as the musical alias of Scott Hansen, but with the release of Awake – his second LP for Ghostly International – the solo project has evolved into a three-piece band. Relating closer to post-rock than ambient soundscapes, the record is situated in the present, sounding more like Hansen than drawing from his influences. “This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record.”

Following 2011’s Dive LP, the San Francisco-based designer toured extensively, and with a full band on stage, his sound coalesced into a percussive, organic whole. Zac Brown (guitars, bass) rejoined Scott on the road for this tour, but it was the particular addition of Rory O’Connor’s live drumming that ultimately sent Hansen back to the studio with a more precise vision. “After the tour, I decided that I wanted to capture the more energetic, driven sound of the live show on the next album,” Hansen recalls. Bringing musicians into Tycho’s creative process was a step towards expanding his own songwriting and advancing the project beyond its current sound.

In a cabin near Tahoe last winter, Zac and Scott began fleshing out the structure of the new record, but it wasn’t until they set up shop in the hills of Santa Cruz with Rory that it all fell into place. “It crystallized the vision of how the drums would come to the forefront on this record,” says Hansen. The sound was much more stripped-down and concise with more organic instruments in the fold. Songs like “Montana” and “Awake” are a departure from Tycho’s previous material – unique to the group effort poured into the songs on the new record – while “See” and “Dye” echo ideas from previous works, bridging a middle ground between the old and new. Working with Count Eldridge, who also engineered Dive, the team could fixate on the pulses that Tycho might previously layer under synthesizers and exhume them with distinct bass and guitar patterns.

Also known for his design work as ISO50, Hansen’s visual and sonic efforts have dovetailed throughout the course of his career. “This is the first time in my life I've dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” notes Hansen. Previous Tycho releases came to fruition when an amalgam of songs were nearing completion, but Awake is where music becomes the focus and true expression becomes the result.

Our remix of The Shore is finally out on Mango Alley along with the excellent rework by Mango and SEAWAVES. 

The original is a real emotional ballad so we wanted to stay true to that but give it a bit of a nostalgic feeling, like you're heading homeward on a journey. So we've added a groove, some original instrumentation and a little bit of euphoria too :)

After a very nice trip around Europe, Astral Waves aka DJ Zen from Altar Records is ready to release his 7th album .

This album is the quintessence of a trip around the world, very interesting encounters, wonderful people on the road, old and new friends met at big festivals such as Hadra and Samsara, and an infinite gratitude for finding a soulmate on my path.  This album was mixed in France, Spain, Sardinia and mastered at Altar Studios, Canada. I got a sweet help from Sandriel, my love who approved everything before release and helped with the sound design.

Songs from the heart that tell a story, beginning with Mexico, deep respect to the Mexican family!, then we got a little walk in the forest (that can make us smarter according to "La Belle Verte") and thirdly, a deep remix of 'Tayatha' from Elea, a great band that I wanted to show my respect for their creativity.

Fourth track has a French little girl telling a morning story to her father about the dream she had. She dreamt that : she encountered herself 40 years ago from now and asked her "Who are you ?" but the other woman, supposedly her (!) but so older replied back with defiance " but you,... who are YOU ?" ....Ha ! those dreams..full of mysteries, but can help us growing our personality so intensely without compromises! 

Then we got the after-sought remix track made from Dreaming Cooper "Forest Rain". I can't recall how many people during my live sets were asking me 'what is this track called dude' ? I believe many of you will be happy that it'll be released in a few weeks :)
"Transparent" has everything in its name ! Relax psychill track with a deep twist, floaty chants about Mother Ayahuasca, sure thing it is not an aggressive one.

The two last tracks are collaborations with my great friend Profondita aka Hudur Shrim from Israel. We have made together "Electric Love" here in the Altar Studio when he came to play live in September 2017, later on he sent me a new track entitled "Breaking Away" to finish it.
I have included again some French vocal samples, telling a nice story about synchronicity and energy, how we can make anything moving up from our hearths and from our willingness, how we can change anything if we're ready to! .

Man of No Ego is a project focused on healing through sound. The music is imbued with universal messages coming from teachers such as Alan Watts, Osho, Ramana Maharishi and follows the 432hz tunning principle. Dimitar initially heard the name Man of No Ego from an Osho lecture. Besides that, as a person, he leads Yoga Classes in his home town Sofia and has released an еBook. In the recent years Man of No Ego has stepped into the role of Ecstatic Dance space holder as a DJ. After facilitating events arround the world, his latest release is inspired by the Ecstatic Dance medicine and features a more shamanic and activating sound.
