Puncher & Konstantin Mayra - Reflections (Takatsugu Wada Remix) - Preview [Big Punch Records]

Sometimes I turn up to a gig for my 6am slot, and the room is pitch black, deafening, and sweat is dripping off the roof, and I think, hmm, what should I play?

A lot of my solo tracks aren't quite right for this sort of atmosphere, so I've been working on a new project designed more for dark sweaty holes in which we like to spend our weekends.

It's a collaboration with someone I have been working with for many years, who is releasing under the new name - Satirist. The first vinyl + digital release coming next week on Berlin's Killekill label. No pretty melodies this time. The name I will be releasing this work under is - SKEW (because it's a bit off).

Poker Flat Recordings has been dealing out underground house music with a unique twist since 1999; from the defining debut 'Loverboy' through the Bugnology series, acclaimed albums and worldwide club hits, Steve Bug's essential imprint has unearthed new talent, developed rising stars and welcomed veterans into the fold. Steve Bug's reputation as an exceptionally gifted DJ, producer and music connoisseur is about to carry the beloved imprint to its 15th anniversary, which will be celebrated with its finest collection of raw talent yet, as seen on this second instalment of the anniversary EP series called 4 Jacks. 

John Tejada's 'Sweat (On The Walls)' is a stone cold minimal house classic, and it's in expert hands here with the low-down groove of Sebo K; his refix keeps it deep and sparse, but adds a nice layer of shimmy and shake that reveals a new melodic accessibility. 

Daniel Dexter's 'No House For Old Men' was a beautifully melodic single that lit up playlists and dancfloors in 2011, and a new remix by Tom Taylor & Gareth Whitehead adds a rich palette of melodic color and harmony paired with a rolling, propulsive beat. 

The other half of the EP showcases new original productions: longtime Poker Flat friend Josh Wink delivers 'Groove', which bounces with tongue-in-cheek energy and Josh's signature deconstructed acid style, while rising talent Anaxander reveals the quirky, classic deep house inclinations that has endeared him to labels like Quintessentials and Local Talk, with the lovely 'A Place To Go'.

Fifteen years deep, and Poker Flat Recordings is still at the top of its game.

Preceding the release of his next full length album, Dutchman Conforce has selected four tracks to release as the Dystopian Elements EP. But don’t let the title fool you because, as is often the case with Boris Bunnik, there is a warm analogue/digital harmony to his sounds which is more than worthy of its place on Delsin.

First is ‘Luminous’ where a tantalising deep house tempo looks to the future with its clean synths and sci-fi atmospheres. Serene yet purposeful, it moves forwards where next track ‘Desolate Ground’ prefers to tread water – languishing in plenty of lateral chords and yet more deft but devilish detail for its dubbed-out entirety. Sparse and spare, yes, but warm and enveloping at the same time.

‘Lonely Run’ again mines a cerebral vein, but one with a muted acid bassline and a heightened sense of edginess thanks to the exquisitely designed sounds and surfaces on show. ‘Vacuum’ is the most dancefloor, with tight hi-hat rotations and a muffled, muted bassline all seemingly trying to surface from the depths of a deep dark ocean. Overall it’s subtle, expansive and dub-wise stuff that oozes with genuine class and real restraint.

As usual from Delsin, expect a limited edition colour vinyl run for the real collectors to enjoy.

Here it is our 19th podcast with Mark Morris ! 
Mark is in the music game for several years and has been releasing such a bunch of quality Techno tracks. Everything started back in 2007 with a very first release and that never stopped till now with great labels crossed on his path such as M_Rec, CLR , DROID , Kombination research , Naked Lunch or more recently Starkstrom Schallplatten. But these last years and even more in 2013, Mark mainly focused on his own imprint, Ketra Records. He created the label back in 2009 and he’s now releasing most of his music on it. He has just released what we can call a huge album containing 33 tracks. Seems to be a lot even too much but every track is great and all of them together get to make it a very interesting cutting edge Techno project. 
As a DJ Mark Morris performed at many great venues in Europe such as the infamous Tresor Club , Stattbad (where he worked as Art Director STATTMEDIA) , Arena , M-Bia (as promoter w Aschenbescher Fur Menschen) , Kantine am Berghain  in Berlin and in South America where he has been touring Colombia and Argentina and Chile (as promoter w zerotwonine chile) when he used to live there for a period from December 2012 to July 2013. Mark is now back in Europe and lives in his own town Naples where he constantly works on MANIFESTO RAW CULTURE his own project of parties/label with Logotech & Future 16.

Unstoppable techno force !Organism has time to put out one more excellent EP this year, and it comes from TKNO and Belgrade’s Sugar Lobby with a fine remix from Krenzlin. 

Sugar Lobby is a talented female techno maker who has been a key player in the underground scene in Belgrade and across Europe. She has a decade’s worth of experience of travelling to top clubs and festivals and her sound has plenty in common with labels like CLR, Ostgut and Token. Here she hooks up with vinyl collector and label boss TKNO who has picked up props from Riche Hawtin, has released on Tauten and Yin Yang and who has a dark and absorbing sound. 

Their first effort ‘Circle X’ is a thrilling one indeed. With vast rubbery kicks rolling down below, you are immediately swept up. Sweeping pads, explosive claps and juddery percussive hits all add to the forceful sense of motion whilst a hypnotic synth line grows in stature to become the of focus of the track and thoroughly locks you in. 

The equally brilliant ‘Circle XX’ is more heady and stripped back, with a cavernous techno chamber run through with sci-fi sounds, alien textures and icy percussion that all seep into and then frazzle your brain in fantastic fashion. 

Germany’s Krenzlin, another esteemed techno talent, then remixes ‘Circle XX’ into a more energetic, textured and big room techno cut with stomping kicks, oversized and serrated synths and a great sense of urgency. 

Once again here !Organism serve up some irresistible main room techno from some of Europe’s finest.

Rebekah  – Beginnings EP - Decoy017
The long awaited first EP on Decoy Records from Rebekah has landed. Beginnings is inspired by Birmingham and those formative years of her love affair with the city and the special sound that comes from there. Central Hall is a quirky techno banger, cutting through with saw toothed military precision and heavy beats, capturing Rebekah’s well-known energy. The remix for this is supplied by Ansome (Mord, Perc Trax), who drops the tempo slightly and pays more attention to the groove with his stripped back interpretation. Stetchford Rising see’s Rebekah working with a sequenced analogue top line which pulsates, filters, rises and drops throughout the piece. Closing the EP, Rebekah throws in a curve ball to remove the clichés of her harder sounds with Last Time I Died, a break beat work out, huge synth melody and melancholic pads, laying to rest somewhere in the ether.

From Another Mind, the techno party and label from southern Germany, is putting out a pair of remix EPs in February. 

Version 004.1 and Version 004.2 are made of reworks of material that From Another Mind bosses SHDW and Obscure Shape have released across three EPs since launching the label in 2015. The lineup of remixers includes some of the biggest names in the business. Rødhåd leads off the first set, which also features James Ruskin, Dax J and Shlømo. Meanwhile, the second EP opens with a joint rework from Tale Of Us and Mind Against, with Inland, Ryan James Ford and Konstantin Sibold contributing as well. 

Both EPs will come on vinyl and digital formats, with separate cover artwork that's designed to sit next to each other.

‘Paul’s Horizon’ – @Ryan-Elliott’s first EP in six years – falls musically between Berlin and Detroit, between house and techno and between hypnotic repetition and unpredictability, revealing a subtle ear for groove and composition.

It’s the DJ’s perspective that has informed the Berghain / Panorama Bar resident's own analogue productions, with ‘Paul’s Horizon’ turning its focus toward deep and slick percussion. This is apparent from the get-go, with the title track’s triangle/clap interplay, funky 5-6 kicks per bar, and bleary-eyed atmosphere. From there “Martinsville Morning” slows down into an understated sunrise groover, led by bassline, strings and pads. EP closer “Grafton Road” turns up the pace again with gasps for hats, aggressive punctuating snares, and a modulating synth bubbling-up throughout.
